I remember when this issue came out. I think my family had a subscription at the time.

I also remember when Rob Low...I mean Princess Stephanie was always in People, too

It was mostly white men who did that and it was not because the music was bad but rather a fear of the unknown and racism.

and homophobia

overall there was a backlash of the 'social revolutions' of the 1970's

cocaine, heroin, sexual excess, rise in stds and aids and it was all blamed on Disco

Yes exactly. It's like an anti-reaction to the free and loving hippie ideals of the 60s and early 70s. Sadly disco music has gotten a poor reputation still to this day because of those people's stupidity. Ironically some of the most skilled instrumentalists (many jazz instrumentalists) played in many disco records and so people miss out all that great music. I'm not even from that era but I love disco music and that sound people disliked so much lol.

Yes, Disco influenced a lot of musical genre then. I love it.

I think even Kiss did a Disco album back then.

Most musicians and artists got involved in disco, there was the look

the dance moves the clubs and house parties

I went to my 1st at age 8. My parents used to have house disco parties, made their own

disco ball with christmas lights and styrophome cups

My brothers and I generally would be put in the entertainment room or off to bed. One party I decided I was going to crash it, put on my platforms, butterfly collard paisley shirt, vest bellbottoms took on of my dads medalion necklaces and walked into the party...

Yeah Kiss did some disco songs and at some point though, the lush sound of disco totally took over the market and it went overboard but generally it was awesome!

Haha really? that's such a cool little story cool ! Did they ever see you at the party or how did it go ?

oh yeah, I walk into people dancing, people stepped aside and smile and said things,(total disco scene) I walked over to my mother and leaned onto her leg, my aunt brought me some punch, and a lady came up to me and asked if I wanted to dance, I step out and then ran back to my mother lol, she looked like a giant(everyone did then) then my mom and dad told me to watch them dance and I worked on some disco moves, then went back to the lady who asked me to dance lol it was a beautiful night lol I became a man that night (not sexually lol)
