Fantasy Prince Albums

I tried to make this as enjoyable to read as I could, so forgive me for the length. I think you'll like it though, I hope. Well today I made a fantasy album from some unreleased Prince tracks and I Love it! If P had released this as an album, it would've been my 2nd favorite (after 1999). Hell, I'm sure it would've been a hit. I mean these songs are genius, imo. Anyway the tracklist goes like this:

1.) All Day, All Night (Prince version of course)

2.) Possessed

3.) Feel U Up ('81 version)

4.) Irresistable Bitch ('81 version)

5.) G-Spot (Prince vocal version)

6.) Chocolate (Prince vocal version; let's pretend the Time never recorded it 4 this)

7.) Erotic City (the one listed as Erotic City #2 on Work It 2.0 updated)

8.) Possessed reprise (just what I'm calling it for the fantasy album; the instrumental with the AMAZING carnal scream at the beginning. Some people may not like it, but it is one of my favorite instrumentals and ends the fantasy album in a great way).

The album would be called Possessed but wouldn't be released under Prince. He would release it under his pseudonym Jamie Starr in the beginning of September 1984, after Purple Rain (which was released in June right?). I imagine it as the extra funky sequel/follow up (follow up may better describe it) to 1999.

I imagine the artwork to be: Prince in the middle w/ his back facing us, wearing a coat/trenchcoat, similar in ways to his 1999 trenchy (I.E. still radioactive/electric purple, but with added pimp like accents but not stereotypical pimp stuff. It will have its very one Prince twist). His pants would be the same as the cool black ones with the buttons on the side, the ones he wore at his 1983 1st ave. concert). Of course he is also wearing black heels. Hair is nearly the same as his 1999/Purple Rain, more reminiscent of the '83 1st ave. show.

He is standing on a street in a red light district. There are LOTS of sexual neon signs on both sides of him (mostly red but has a lot of purple too. Some blue as well). Of course behind him we see his signature mist/fog (not too much but enough to feel like he is "powerful" force/sexual entity), the fog is illuminated a little by the purple and red neon lights.

The sky is night of course and has a lot of stars. The Title would be in white and positioned on the left. Not really a fancy font either as that would distract people from the artwork, imo. The Jamie Starr would be situated on the right. It is a dark (not too dark though) purple. It would be handwritten by Prince (to suggest a signature) and the two r's are facing to the left instead of the right, just to show Prince/Jamie playing around. There would also be a few small purple stars positioned around the Starr part of the name.

The back the the record is purple. It has the tracklisting fashioned as neon lights. The individual tracks are each different neon colors and different fonts (like Purple rain). The listing goes from top to bottom but, to make it more urban, it is not always a straight line. There is a red border along the edges of the back of the record, again fashioned as a neon light.

Inside the record is a poster. The poster features a full shot, yet barely visible, Prince/Jamie standing in a purple fog. In this poster he is not wearing his new trenchy, but something similar to the tight jacket he wore during the 1st part of his 1983 1st ave. show. He is also wearing Prince style sunglasses and is making the "pussy licking" gesture with his fingers and tongue.

The Inside sleeve is a full drawing (by Prince) of night on the front. It has many stars on it and a moon made out of two figures (male & female) making love. The moon is dripping a purple liquid that as it goes down the gradually turns to a white liquid. On the back is an upside down drawing of daylight with the white drops of liquid, continued from the direction it was going from the front, forming the shining sun. This symbolizes that sex is the world of the musician who made the record.

Now what I want is, for anyone who wants to cooperate in this activity, to create your own fantasy albums. I want as much detail as you can possibly add describing everything about it: title, artwork, EVERYTHING!! lol. I want every little detail (I'm really really interested in everyone's ideas)!

Thanks for taking the time to read this and taking part! Definitely discuss!

IMPORTANT!!!!! TO ARTISTS ONLY: I would be extremely grateful to any artist who can bring to life the "album's" artwork so I can use it in Itunes smile thanks to anyone who can do that for me!

One thing for sure: I wouldn't buy this album hmph! lol

About the double post: I did it on purpose just to get it out of my system haha. I've been on a board that is very strict about that. Freaking driving me insane. Now that I got that out of my system I'm happy. I probably won't double post again though (only on "emergencies").

Nice fantasy album! Yeah, a mixture of the 1999 and Purple Rain tracks is epic. Hell, the 1999 and Purple Rain mesh "era" of 1983 have some of my most favorite tracks by Prince. He was really electric in this era, so unique. I know it can't technically be described as an era in Prince terms to some people, but I consider it to be its own little era even though it is short.

So can you go into detail about what you imagine the artwork of your album is? Like I said, I am very interested in everyone's ideas. I would really like it if everyone went into detail regarding the artwork, approx. release date, the back of the record, you know just stuff like that.

It would be cool to make up and describe events that could've happened regarding everyone's fantasy album (I.E. tours with what you think the setlist would be, small concerts, filming of promo vids, ect... Another cool detail would be which singles you would choose.

Sorry if I am being boring haha, just really interested. I love discussing topics like this. It's so fun to make this stuff up.

Interesting choices. I'm going to give it a try! sad no one wants to describe anything? Please everyone.... I don't just want this to be just the same ol' generic playlist thread. I want it to be unique and very creative.

I want everyone's imagination to flow, I want everyone to work out their imagination in this thread. I want everyone who participates to push their creativity to the max. I know my family here at the org hug (love all of you) will enjoy doing this. I just want everyone to forget about all the negativity for a while and have fun together. Plus like I said it is fun and I enjoy reading everyone's unique creations.

Sorry If I seem too demanding or bossy. I don't mean to come off like that biggrin Just want to have fun. Also I'm not trying to preach to anyone about stopping negativity or anything like that. I'm not preaching about haters or ass kissers. I just want everyone to take a break from all of that and, like I said, enjoy each other; to push their thinking and creativity to the limits. Just overall have fun.

Sorry if I am annoying anyone.

Ahh nice! I would buy it! When would you have released it? What would be the album's singles? Of course "Erotic City" would be one haha. IMO, it would be: "Erotic City", "Lady Cab Driver" (maybe... hmm would this album pertain to every day pop radio listeners or something else?), the last one I would choose is "Darling Nikki"? IDK.

To Kenkamken: Yeah I can see your point. I would definitely add "Electric Intercourse". If I was to put the song in the album I put together, where would you put it? I could see it after "G-Spot". Isn't that what it was supposed to be like in the movie anyway? I thought it was that order, may be the other way around for all I know lol. The only problem would be the song disturbing the flow of the current tracklist. Hmm...

Edit: I think I'd put it after "Erotic City" and before "Possessed (reprise)", which again, is just the instrumental version with the cool scream. BTW, I know you were probaby refering to Riocoolness and his album but, again, you had a point haha.

yes. i've been thinking about that. the obvious choice would be "how come u don't call me?"

but i'm not sure how that would fit in with the rest of the songs on this album though...

perhaps after "chocolate"?

lol, we reallly need to get our hands on another outtake ballad from this era lol

and purplemajesty32, i don't really have any idea about what the artwork would look like,

to be honest. haven't given it that much/deep thought.

YAY!! I'm glad at least some people are going to do it. I though more people would want to do this activity... I think it is fun. Plus you get to get a peek into other people's imagination, which I think is a beautiful thing.

How the hell did I forget "How Come U Don't Call Me?"? It really fits your album...definitlely more than mine. I don't think it fits the theme of mine. After "Chocolate"... YES! Just now tried it out and transitioned perfectly from "Chocolate" to "How Come U Don't Call Me.." I'm going to see if it transitions nicely to "Purple Music". OH, speaking of: which version of "Purple Music" did you choose? IMO, the longer version works well with "How Come U Don't Call Me...", but that's just me.

Do we have any info on outtake ballads from the era? confuse Hmmm.. Anyway, what are your choices for singles? If you have any of course. Any special tour, or concerts? What special Ideas do you have so far about your album? The title as well haha.

To SuperSoulFighter: eek eyepop omg dancing jig Oh YEAH!!!! Damn that would be one cool album! So nice! I'm asking you the same questions I've been asking everyone else: What are your special ideas for your album? (Damn, I know, I sound like a broken record by keep asking these questions). I'm Very interested in every small and large detail about this (as I am with all of the others too). Just wow though!

What would your choice of singles be? I also want to ask this: Are you going to keep the Joker references in "Dance with the Devil", or cut that out? Do you think he would tour for this album?

I always figured Electric Chair or Rave would've been good singles. (Don't know if they have any hit potential. On the other hand, if Batdance was a hit, why not these...) What struck me when compiling this list was something I never really noticed: these songs are dark and spiritual/religious at the same time. (That's probably why the Batman character appealed to him) So an album cover in black and white would fit the atmosphere. Say a potrait of Prince with one side of his face in the dark or something like that
And a tour? Right after the big Lovesexy tour? No...

Another thing: this album would have put a stop to all the complaints about his music being no good after 1988. This album would probably not have been a hit, but it would have kept up his mystique. But... Prince made a decision to go for the big money. In that respect Batman was a turning point. But yeah, we can still fantasize.

Cool ideas. I always loved the dark atmosphere of those songs, there is just something special about these songs...very touching too. I forgot about the Lovesexy tour haha, agreed though now that I think about it. Small shows wouldn't hurt would it?

"Electric Chair" has always been my favorite off of the Batman soundtrack. I always thought it was absurdly overlooked by most, though had it been released with your album AND as a single, I do believe it would get the attention it deserved. I hightly bet it would've become a hit.

Your artwork idea is pretty interesting. Any specifics of the artwork? Such as: where is the white part? The Black Part? Or do you mean just P's face half covered in darkness?

Since I've been helping pick singles for other people's albums, what does everyone think my singles should be? I'm having a hard time deciding lol . For a while I was thinking about having "All Day, All Night" as my 1st, then maybe "Possessed"... IDK though, I don't think there should be too many single for the album. What are your ideas for my singles?

Edit: Even though that has the potential to feed the trolls, I have to agree. Agreeing to create the soundtrack really did change Prince. You know, I never even thought about that before. Huh.

Thanks! Sometimes we all need to see things in a different light. Anyway, "All Day, All Night" would be my lead single. I too have a feeling it would be a hit. I mean, Jill's version isn't bad but Prince's is just funky as a purple steak! The track oozes sex so this would be the best representation of the albums theme. It would prepare the listener for the album really.

Then I'd choose "Possessed" as my second single, released after the album (maybe, is that a bad idea? I think it would be better to have it released before the album came out.). Or what I'd most likely do is relsease "Erotic City" as the second single and have it come out before the album B/w "Chocolate".

For you SuperSoulFighter, if it was my album I'd pick...well I want to say release "Electric Chair" as the lead single but now that I think about it, it doesn't best represent your theme. I may or may not be looking at your album in a different way though. What do you think?

i've always wanted p to write/record a 3 disc funk opera chronicling the rise (disc 1), fall (disc 2) and eventual redemption (disc 3) of hal jordan, the green lantern/parallax/spectre. it should have an original comic book/libretto from some of today's top comics talents and include a long list of guest musicians.i really don't see it happening, as warner brothers owns the characters; but if wb and p ever decided to reconcile, it'd make a hell of a parallel storyline...

yes, I think 1983 was like an era itself, touch of 1999 with music 4 Vanity 6 then a change and echoes of Purple Rain, James Brown show, 1983 Benefit Show, working on the next look for the PR era with pieces from 1999

An album that tells a story is a nice idea.

Not exactly a musical or opera, but separate songs, that in a specific order make up a story.

And I also love the idea of forming the title of the album with the first letters of the songtitles.

Obviously, the artwork depends on the title of the album that is the essence of the album's story.

I do love photography, so I would make an image of every song.

And again, the image of the songs put in a row, tell the story of the album.

And the cd (yes. nice old fashioned cd) is wrapped in bubble plastic. And every bubble of the bubble plastic is filled with paint or oher colored fluid. When you unwrap the cd, the bubbleplastic is a beautiful artwork that you can put up your wall. Of course made by the artist who was the first to use this technique: Bradley Hart.

As for the songs....I'd like new songs. I would like to hear creations of the Prince nowadays.

I'm curious about it, and I think his experience over the years may have improved his skills.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

The year is 1995; Summer is just beginning. Prince, aka The Artist Formerly Known As Prince (TAFKAP), is coming off his two year hiatus of no new albums (what do you mean "Come"?) and just playing Small Clubs. Now, as if out of nowhere, Prince is jumping back into mainstream media with a new 3 record album entitled "Days "heart" Wild".

The tracks are as follow:

DISC ONE

1. Days Of Wild

2. NPG Operator #1

3. Endorphinmachine

4. Come

---------------------------

1. Pussy Control

2. Ripopgodazippa

3. NPG Operator #2 (*#3 on TGE*)

4. Now

DISC TWO

1. Pheremone

2. Dolphin

3. Dark

4. NPG Operator #3 (*#2 on TGE*)

5. The Most Beautiful Girl In The World

-----------------------------

1. Acknowledge Me (#1 as on WI2.0)

2. Space

3. Papa

4. Billy Jack Bitch

DISC THREE

1. Shhh

2. 319

3. Race

4. Letitgo

-----------------------------

1. Eye Hate U

2. NPG Operator #4 (*#6 on TGE*)

3. Gold

THE SINGLES

The first single is TMBGITW b/w the Mustang Mix, chosen to capture the pop market's attention.

The next one is Eye Hate U b/w Eye Hate U [Remix] (as appears on WI2.0)

The third single is Days Of Wild b/w Days Of Wild (Part II), a, in true 90s Prince fashion, concession to the rap/hip-hop world.

Fourth is Dolphin b/w Space and the final is Gold, available only as a CD single.
