+1 Prince is, was, and always will be the man but, with someone like Miko or levi or des or wendy holding down the rhythm while he sings, dances, prances, tickles the ivories a bit, rocks some funk guitar + takes a few solo's is my idea of a superbad showman- ie: Prince up until around the time of the rainbow children.

Jimi Hendrix is one of my all time favorite guitar players ,Ginger Baker is one of my favorite drumers. But so many things happened since the 60's.you have many better guitar players then Jimi and better drumers then Ginger.Jimi will always be groundbreaking guitarist and innovator but no way his pentatonic noodling is more interesting then Prince.we can't compare Jimi and Prince because they belong to a different eras but judged by the records Prince is more creative, faster, versatile player then Jimi.

1) they're both dead, so good luck seeing them doing anything on stage. 2) the poster said there are a million other things Prince could be doing on stage, not asking for a million other guitar players.

dancing and basketball from Prince? at a Prince concert? sorry, but
that stuff is bullshit. if I show up to a Prince concert and he's playing basketball instead of guitar, I'm not going to be very satisfied.

Prince is a singer who plays instruments and stuff, not a guitarist who sings and plays keyboards.

Prince is like Aretha Franklin; a singer who can play. To me.

I would say he's one of the top all-around instrumentalists of all time, but as an entertainer, I totally agree with you. I want to see him simply lead a show. Guitar is part of that, but so is singing, dancing, being goofy, etc My Legacy

It's Prince who plays the guitar in "Joy in repetition".
So, what did you say again about him playing the guitar??? 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

More, always more. What Prince plays best is the guitar. The Parade tour was awesome, but one of the downsides was his (forced) lack of guitar playing. Thankfully he got it back with the SOTT and LoveSexy tours, but during Nude the guitar playing was also minimal. Then during the 90's he had periods where he played lots of guitar, Act I and II, Gold. The tours of the late 90's were however with less guitar again. . Basically all Prince tours were great, but those he played a lot of guitar on were the best.
