Mornin Joe - had the guy on that wrote new prince book ... Just came up ... from my cold dark basement ...
and Mornin Joe had on a discussion about Prince ... I was only ONE CUP into my coffee so I think i missed most of it ..
It was by the author of the new book "i would die 4 u " ... about Prince ...
it was nice to hear some positive stuff ... although I caught the tail end ..
Maybe later they will post the interview ...

Toure co-hosts another show on MSNBC so naturally he's gonna get plenty of exposure there.
As a pop culture analyst, Toure is pretty much hit or miss based on what I have previously seen and heard from him, but that was a good segment and he explained his perspective well.
I haven't read the book yet but I hear it's is a quick read and if that's the case I think maybe he could have taken more time with the book to include more content because there's probably a lot of ground he didn't cover.
It was funny to see Mike Barnacle sitting in on that segment because he's such a relic that I have a hard time believing he barely knows who Prince is,

i laughed out loud at that Barnacle comment ... yes I was thinking too .... what ... were you 63 when Purple Rain came out Mark ???
I have seen "Toure" before on other entertainment shows - but did not see he had a show of his own .... not sure I would be into watching it but ... hey ... different strokes ... different folks .. Well, he seems to differ from the book DMSR on the song "Starfish and Coffee" went it comes to the insperation. According to the book, Susanahh told Prince of an actual person named Cynthia Rose she went to school with. Toure says Prince dreamed it all. I would place more value on the Per Nilsen account and not Toure's. But who can be sure? |
