I really can't do it, & I have tried.

Yeesh, i have a new favorite Prince song every week, this week is Goodbye, from the Emancipation sessions... quite a beautiful song, and heartfelt vocal.

Okay I just had my twice yearly listen to Purple Rain. Fuck me that was one hell of a song. Possibly his greatest ever.

Does anyone else still feel the urge to cry when they listen to it? And does anybody not like it? Don't answer as I will send people to kill you.

To sum it up I would just say "perfection".

This is very difficult as I have about 150 favorite songs. But in the last few months my absolute favorite has been:

Large room with no light

closely followed by (in no particular order) Shhhh, Empty room, All my dreams, Player, Calhoun Square, Dreamin' about you, Scandalous, Adore, I hate U, When I lay my hands on you, Joy in repetition, My name is Prince, Something in the water (does not compute), Colonized mind, Strange relationships, Everlasting now, Family name, Mutiny, Days of Wild, Sexy MF, Girls & Boys ..........

At the moment, this one as well. Will always have a strong affinity for Adore, Hot Thing and The Cross though.

From all the songs named so far, I have to say I like them all.

Its great just to step back and realise how many top rate songs Prince has made. This is not a guy with a few good songs, the classics by Prince list could range into the hundreds.

At least 100 of his songs would be epics on anyone elses playlist. It goes to show how talented the guy is, when 30 different people can name 30 different songs, all of which are truly classics.

EDIT: That seems to be a lot of "actuals"--isn't that sort of thing often an indicator of lying? Maybe I really do know. And maybe it's "Uno." And maybe I have Spanish titled Madhouse tracks up to "Treinta y Tres" and I'm lying about not having uncirculating stuff.

My heart says 'Raspberry Beret', as it was that video that introduced me to Prince. The only song I've ever woken up craving for in the middle of the night and I had to play my audio recording of it off the telly!

I can never do it. Yeah I've got some favourites but I'd have trouble picking one album let alone single. Could prolly squeeze out a favourite decade but I'd be gutted at what I'd be missing. The man's still writing.
