Moms is cool with the Come album. I don't play most of it around her anymore. lol Getting Planet Earth was a time-saver. It and Emancipation both have their glorious and latchkey moments. Emancipation is a dime-saver for sure. Steeped in excess and filth, as well spontaneity. Not sure what I would'a picked at this point. Prolly Come. Kill a bunch of birds quick like. Did I get that one first? doh! "If you had a chance to see the..." brick

For all time I am with you, you are with me.

But, perhaps you could ask your parents if he could send it to their workplace to avoid giving your personal info to a stranger online?

And to answer your question iloveannie, no, it is not easy to get hold of in the states. This is a VERY generous offer!!

That's why I asked for "a" postal address and not hers smile Can you send items to your local post office in the States for collection? We've got this great scheme in Britain where you can have parcels sent to your local pub. Two reasons to go for a pint!

it's so helpful when people so openly let us know how to take their opinions in the future lol

Prince has released about 6 hours worth of music in the last 10 years that I put in various configurations for playlists. this song has never once made it into any of them. even the almost-six-hour-version. this and Purple & Gold. and Life O' The Party.

I hate it that much. It sounds like a Mentos commercial. but even cheesier.

It's my favourite track from the album as well.

Is it in any way "cheesier" than mid-80s songs like "A Place In Heaven", "Train" or "Starfish & Coffee"? Not really.

I love it, it blew me away when I first heard it and hammered it in the car for weeks afterwards.

Half the people slag off Prince's music on here but you always find another half that like it. So sometimes, actually almost always its you/them that dosnt like the music and not the music that is shit.

There are a LOT of 80s tunes that would be laugehd at today.

Paisley Park from ATWIAD is an example.

Others are Take Me With You, Let's Pretend We're Married (owee sha sha koo koo WTF?), and The Cross.

I'm also convinced that had Emancipation been the followup album to Controversy, it would be hailed as a masterpiece still today. (yeah, I know most folks don't agree)

No question. Between PE and NEWS, I'm not sure which one I've listened to less. The only song on PE I like is the one everyone here universally hates, so sometimed I don't even know, but, dear god the songrwriting on that disc is lazy and un-inspired. The things people bitch about it most are the two things I liked (the cover and The Song That Shall Not Be Mentioned).

Maybe it'll help me in the long run once some dumb ass wants to give me $50 a pop for both of them on E-bay and needs them in good condition. Those bastards are absolutely prestine, unlike my copies of Gold and several other out of print discs.

Whch tends to happen with CD's you never play.

Thanks for all the replies ya'll!

*sigh* I've listened to the CD again and again.....and now I hate it! Planet Earth, Mr. Goodnight, and Future Baby Mama are the only songs I'm feeling. I only tolerate Guitar.

This weekend I'm takin' a trip back to the Wrecka Stow. I've decided to buy Come, AND The Love Symbol album. Hopefully those aren't as bad. lol

Somewhere Here On Earth reminds me of the background music for The Cosby Show. smile and Chelsea Rodgers.....? >.<

If its something from the old school then theres a pretty good chance I might like it. Aside from Prince, I usually listen to El DeBarge, Lenny Kravitz, Teena Marie, MJ, Maxwell, Tupac, Musiq Soulchild, Stevie Wonder.....

I like some new school music too. Miguel, Muse, and Maroon 5 are alright... Thats about it for the new stuff though :/

OH AND ABSOLUTELY NO COUNTRY MUSIC.

Wow, that's a really limited choice of music! That's not meant as a criticism by the way, just amazed that with an almost infinite choice of music on the planet you're only listening to so little. Hell, what about someone like Ryan Bingham? Although he's about as far country as I have in my collection (bar Dolly of course). Try monkeyboxing.com if you want to stick with your soul and funk. They have a collection of old and new artists. My favourite, and most used, music site is boomkat.com. They have some gloriously diverse music on their site, some old, some new, but what I love most is their love, passion, appetite and understanding for music. Nothing seems to be off-limits. They are enamored with early Prince as well wink

Both of them are better than PE to me.

I absolutely love the prince album. There are only 2 songs that I classify as "duds" on this album (The Flow and 3 Chains O' Gold) but they actually fit in with the project to tell the story.

What a cool tread, reminds me of back when I 1st started on my Prince collection (1994/5) and based my choice on what tracks I liked the most on the hits collection the found things like Batman soundtrack....where did that come from (when basing my knowledge purly on the hits!). I've since bought EVERYTHING on release week (same goes for several artists/bands I picked up in my mid teens so my collection is rather extensive!).

Anyway looks like you'll be trying to get them all just picking a good order to increase your interest to the rare stuff rather than fizzle out by picking less perfered releases! you could go by release order, and see the evolution (as I'm currently doing through my collection or my drive to work).

Anyway in a random order I'd go for Sign O The Times, Come & Raibow Childern (and The Gold Experiance) out of those 1st before the others, but I'd hunt out Controversy. And "don't look a gift horse in the mouth" 20ten has some stella tracks on it.

Good luck, happy hunting & most of all enjoy all the music.

this is a pretty cool thread. Reminds me of the first time i listened to one of his cd's it was actually "the hits 1" and it was my moms the second i found was Diamonds and pearls i played that CD OUT!. i was so freaking lucky to have found it in her stack of cds cause she had every single prince album on vinyl, which hang on my wall now, but no record player.(she also had 1800 new funk but that cd cover always freaked me out eek ). I would literally go into the record cabnet and just read the lyrics sheets and guess how the songs sounded cause i couldnt listen. And this was when the purple rain movie and under the cherry moon was being played non stop on tv one so i grew an obsession for him quickly. I became a prince fan during the exact right time cause he was getting sooo much air time! they even showed graffiti bridge a few. I took my VCR and some spare tapes and recored all 3 movies when they came on, some music videos that vh1 pop up video played, that omnibus documentry and that weird carmen electra biography story lol. walked around at home and to classes at school with my mp3 on the old skoo radio station so i could hear some new songs i havent before. THIS was how i learned about prince when i was like 14/15. a year later i moved into another house and our family finally got internet and boom i became an even bigger fan. IMEEM. com was my ultimate source for new videos and unreleased music etc. those were the good days..like 2007 :p now i own alot more albums and bought under the cherry moon on my ipod no more VHS BABY!!!!!! tanks for the memories OP lol lol

OH and for the record i personally like emancipation better than planet earth smile
