When Prince was on his show in '92 it was amazing.

But then it was so horribly bad in '93.

I just saw an advert for Arsenio's new show.. hopefully it surives long enough for Prince to make an appearance..

The Roots need to leave Fallon as soon as he takes over for Jay Leno. And they should go straight to Arsenio. If he really plans right, it could be a good show. Not like his first one that got cancelled due to it not being that funny.

I'm always amazed that people make statements without having facts. Hall's show was ended due to the mounting pressure the network was feeling after Minister Louis Farrakhan appeared on the show. Prior to that, Hall had a contract extension offer from the network, but the dollar value of the extension was lowered after Minister Farrakhan appeared on the program. Thus, his show was not cancelled; he refused to sign the extension. And, on either the second to last or last show, after the hip hop all-star performance, Hall, emotional from all the love he had been shown once people learned he was not returning, stated, "That's why I can tell Hollywood to kiss my ass." Now, none of this proves that Hall is funny or that he is funny to you, but his show was cancelled because racist Hollywood is what it is, not because Hall wasn’t funny, especially since his ratings were kicking much late night television ass for most of the time his show aired.

As comedy, like all art, is in the ear and eye of the beholder, millions of people disagreed with you for the entire airing of his show. However, what will hurt his chances the second time is the changing landscape of comedy, much of which is bullcrap, which is what affects all artists. Bill Cosby is the funniest man ever on television, but what he did in the past will not play well for the crap that passes as comedy today. All artists have their apexes, but the passing of the apex does not mean that the person was never well crafted. So, once again, your sweeping, overly general premise is flawed.

It was amazing how different one year could make....1991 was so GREAT!!!!! They had to repeat the "Prince show" because they received so many letters. The whole Diamonds era was NICE!!!! Folks who couldn't stand him was singing his songs and talking about the episode. Now 1992....the long hair, Mayte stuff, weird songs, no dancing, no fun, the weird polaroid ending.....SMH

I'm rooting for Arsenio. Just don't think he's funny. Ever since his days on Solid Gold.

Dont worry, it will, he's been banished long enough. When he punked out on the Farrakhan interview that was his ass, if he ever gets to that level of influence again he will honor his masters and do his job.
