Another four NEW songs? Dear .Org,
Can anyone else see what I just saw?
I just caught four new links - "LOL", "1 In Your Heart", "Sun In The Sky" and "Loosen Up"!
But everytime I refresh, the links are either gone or disabled.

Thanks SpiritOtter - I *was* able to finally find "Boyfriend" using Chrome. Don't see the other songs you spotted, but it sounds like a good sign of things to come.

No, unfortunately not, errant. I think I will wait till the weekend is over to see what (re)surfaces, I've had more than enough of a download rush experience today.

It is a bit like rushing to witness Haley's Comet - filled with fear that if you don't get it NOW you're out of luck for the next 76 years. Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife. More info at https://www.facebook.com/TMATSPodcast/

Haha! True, Doozer, although I guess it's all in our own minds, as I am guessing almost everything that has at one time or another been uploaded is now available to purchase on a "steady" platform. I just like being first in line at the shop door if/when a new Prince album is available, and then rushing back home like in the old days. It's not quite the same nowadays in that the journey to and from the shop has changed!

I only see "Boyfriend (Demo)" but I'm going to try refreshing a few times.
Thanks, SpiritOtter! | |

I lived where there were too many city lights so I was left out. I'm excited to get these new songs when they're up for sale. Exciting times!

Good looking out Spirit,
Seems like we have some more songs on the way at some point Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

Yes. I don't know if 'they' paid attention to that vast debate regarding the quality of files from the last set of downloads, but it does appear that they opted for a wav file this time around (not that I really understand the difference)!

Dr Funkenberry also mentioned these trax as coming soon on twitter... Nice

3:08, funky, horns, funky bass. Not sure how to describe it, nothing springs to mind. Very well formed for a demo. I like it lots.
Sounds really good quality too, wav file, tiniest clipping when looking in an editor, which I can't hear on the headphones, massive improvement on what's come before. Very impressed if this is the way of things to come.

I emailed them to ask about the possibility of high-def files for future releases. Their response was quite promising:
"We are on the same page with you about the HD Audio formats and are working to secure these for all releases."
Nice to see them come through for the latest release - hopefully it will continue.

Why wav and not flac?
Flac is another widely used lossless format but files sizes are smaller than wav.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
because FLAC isn't universal. and if you're getting up to the size of a FLAC, you might as well just put out the original WAV.

Flac or Wave for me is ok! I only want to burn them in HD to a cd and play on my stereo!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Isn't it? I thought it was the accepted norm for downloadable lossless audio now. Download services usually go with flac because they're paying for all the extra bandwidth we use when we download large files.
I'm happy enough with 320kbps mp3 but wav or flac is fine and dandy for me as well.

FLAC doesn't even work on Windows Media Player. unless it does on the latest version or something. or with a plug-in. or iTunes. and those are surely 2 of the most common media players around.

blah. go with VLC media player. What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I do. But most people don't want to bother with the hassle of figuring out what media player they're supposed to go download to get their music to play. or which bootleg converting software is free if they want to decode it to WAV or mp3 so they can listen to it without burning it to a disc first.

True, that's why wave is fine, now giving an option of different formats would be cool. I have a receiver that can stream flac, wave etc. From my hard drive located in my computer room. Do homework. Others without VLC player give it spin. What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

as you can tell, there are are an inordinate number of brain damaged people on this site alone who you would think should be accustomed to figuring this stuff out, considering they are Prince fans and the half-baked ways he gets his music out there in the last 15 to 20 years, who can't even figure out either how to 1) purchase things from the 3rdEyeGirl website or 2) download it it after they've managed to pay for it.
let's worry about the official retail outlet getting that right before we start worrying about fancy format choices and streaming from the computer to the stereo.
