So I finally decided to go ahead and get the Screwdriver Live video (since I was getting "Boyfriend" anyway)--

but, I seem to be watching something different than those of you who got it before.

It's only 5:40 (not the 8:09 I see on Princevault) and it doesn't have any intro section at all, just the actual performance and a few seconds when three guys come into the empty room at the end.

Is there a difference between the mp4 and mov versions? Does Prince2013.com have the longer version? What the heck happened? Did they replace it while they were messing with the "Boyfriend" post/take away/repost with a different title?

I'm glad to have the version with just the performance for listening--but I would like to have the full version, just because I'm that way, even if it's terrible acting and a stupid story (it's not like that's the first time that those qualities showed up in a Prince production). And, not only would it be easier to get it from Prince (if it's still available from him), but I'd still prefer to get it legitimately.

site is buggy as hell. but yes, it appears that a newer, shorter version of the video has been uploaded for purchase. for some reason.

It is a new video. Yes there is some pulled off the front end. I am not sure if the original will be available in the future. This is the actual music video rather than the short film the original was.

I'm guessing that the temporary inclusion of both versions that happened earlier in the day (someone reported something like that in the "Boyfriend" thread) was a screw-up.

Thanks for the trick. I have now, because I'm an idiot, gone and paid $1.77 for a version that I'm sure adds nothing particularly worhwhile to the one I already purchased (we'll see when it finishes downloading).

Kind of stupid that the longer version has the filename "ScrewdriverLiveMovie" but is listed on the order form as "Screwdriver Video," while the shorter version is just "Screwdriver Live," but actually includes video in the filename. Seems like it would be real easy to confuse them--but I guess since apparently only one is supposed to be available, it's not a problem from their end.

If you want the long one--the product page (after Errant's trick) has the 8 minute version as "Screwdriver Video."

If you want the short one--that's what's on the normal page anyway, but they call it "Screwdriver Live"

thanks for specifying which is which. I've been wondering, because I might actually buy the shorter one so that I can convert it to audio. no point in having to cut off the front and back while i'm at it.

Don't really know--haven't seen the long one (still downloading), but they do show some dancing in the short version. The dancers look stupid, but I'm not feeling all that negative about them, so maybe there was more of it in the original.

No got the second version which was confusingly retitled Screwdriver Live (The long one just being scewdriver) So downloaded the old one by mistake then downloaded the new one just incase it didn't have the dancers but it does.

Even with accidently buying the same video twice and a re-edit of the same video i've only spent £3.54 in total so not really bothered.

Infact if you add that £3.54 with the £2.95 I spent on the five audio tracks It's cost me
£6.49 (without the mistake it would only be £5.31) For 5 songs a video and and edit of that video

Yup i'm not complaining so far

I made the mistake purchasing the same 8min. version again.

I was assuming Screwdriver Live.mp4 was the 8min version and Screwdriver.mp4 was the lyric video. What a dumb assumption that anything would make that much sense. Not to mention the site not telling me I've already purchased the same item.

They really need a 10-20sec preview for purchases. Hell even a thumbnail for the videos.

I'm glad we are getting new stuff and I'm quite used to these follies but it does get old.
