I think the main point here is that in 2013, anybody distributing music for money should realize that format options are a must. The fact that even the mp3s being offered are in differing bitrates shows that this is not a professionally run site.

If he doesn't know the difference, he should just put them all as wav, and let users convert as needed.

That said, this is great - 6 weeks in and a ton of new music to listen to... bring it on!

just downloaded the boyfriend demo. the music is great, very funky, imo. the melody leaves a little to be desired, but i'm totally enjoying this song. the new website is kicking. i'm making a new playlist now and adding this track to it.

breakfast can wait, rnr remix 7, and boyfriend demo. i'm a happy dude. not earth shattering, but they're really good, especially in the sea of so so music that i hear on the radio. bobbing my head to the boyfriend demo as i type. dancing jig dancing jig

I like getting a song every week or so. You get to really groove on a song and decide if you like it or not.

Whereas with an album, it could be a long time before you get to some of the songs.

I didn't think I'd like this non-album release strategy, but I do.

This sounds like a vault track, but a good one.

I'd be interested to see what he does with the demo. Perhaps throw in a Doug E. Fresh rap?

iTunes is the world largest digital music retailer. Not only do they not offer format options, they use a format that literally no one else does. Doesn't seem like much of a must to me.

That said, I hope it's WAV files from here on.

In part II we discover Larry is the boyfriend and he starts singing ill. Prince and Larry go back and forth for a bit before the cowbell kicks in.

True, that's why wave is fine, now giving an option of different formats would be cool. I have a receiver that can stream flac, wave etc. From my hard drive located in my computer room. Do homework. Others without VLC player give it spin.

Doesnt' the receiver also stream wav? Seems odd to be complaining that he only offer a more universal format. Sonicly there is no difference between a lossless wav and a flac so seems silly to offer both. Do any digital download stores offer flac?

I love FLAC, but let's be real, WAV is the best possible audio file to have, sonically speaking. The only reasons to prefer FLAC would be to reduce file size or because of the tagging limitations of WAV.

I say that with today's download speeds and hard drive capacities I'm not gonna worry about the file size and I would never trade audio quality for tagging info.

It would be nice if any info that would be in the tag could be accessed on the site such as any single "cover scans" or recording info... "liner notes" if you will. Maybe include a pdf with the wav that would include all that? Am I asking too much now?

wink

Not complaining but suggestion. I also have my tablets, portable mp3 players etc. I use different formats on different gear. I can convert them but hey I'm just consumer. Oh, BTW. Thrilled to get wav.
