I also feel it's a bridge or haven for those who share a common bond.
It's a cruel world out there, and the Park presented a home for the homeless...you know?

I feel your pain!

I just met-up with a friend who moved away 4 years ago. But she was with me thru sooo many parties...the beautiful experience and the following weeknite parties...the emancipation shows in the pretty white room, the pre-New Power Soul gigs (when it was fun to see Larry Graham)...we rehashed the good ol days and she talked about how sad she was to move away and lose that. I told her not to worry since the parties have stopped...

shoot, I even had fun on those nites when he just chilled at the soundboards and peole danced...

cry

I miss it...

maybe for our next Mn fan gathering we should picket the park
We could all make signs like "We Want The Funk" "It Ain't Ovah" and stuff
that'd be great!

Well said. I couldn't agree more.

I didn't get to go to many parties, though, and for that I feel sad. I love hearing the stories from those people who attended them regularly back when they were still going on. You guys have NO IDEA how much I wish I had been a part of all that.

I hope very much P ond day decides to hold them again. sad

Even if he just opened up the Love4OneAnother room, you know? Just for the music and to hang at the park is a cool thing.
It just feels so comfortable there.

Yes, just the opportunity of BEING there for awhile would be wonderful.

I'm glad you started this thread. I've been thinking a lot lately about how much I wish they'd annouce another Friday night party, and how good it would feel to be in hat atmosphere again.

This has been a rather hard, long, depressing winter for me so far - and, as silly as this may sound, a Paisley party would do my soul a lot of good. Just to be out there for awhile and talk with people and listen to music.

Wow. You and me, both.

It's been at tough time too, and the one thing that would absolutely brighten up this dismal view would be a party where we could all gather in a smoke-free/alcohol-free environment.

Music and laughter at the park...nothing like it.

Let's just keep hoping for one soon.

I do wish I understood exactly why the parties stopped. I read all the speculations about it being due to Prince's newfound religion and such, but I honestly can't fathom what would be considered inherently 'wrong' with holding Friday night parties. It's a positive, clean atmosphere full of happy people who are glad for the chance to see one other, to listen to good music, and be around an artist/a place they love and appreciate. To me that is purely 'good'. I don't understand why that needs to stop. sad

hug Lav hug I hope your difficult winter gets filled with lots of sunshine soon.

Hey... living in Chicago never stopped me and my crew from going to a Friday Nighter at Paisley! We can work a full day and, as long as we hit the road no later than 7pm, we can get there in plenty of time!! My buddy who does the driving is one of those rare breed, genius types who thinks that sleep is overrated! She is priceless! We have just as much fun during our drives up to Paisley as we do at the parties themselves! We have a ball!! lol

After the party ends, we go get a little breakfast from Perkins then it's back on the road to Chicago. My buddy's "Prince buzz" is still in effect and she drives all the way. I'm usually back home chilling by 12:30 Saturday afternoon!

Again, living in Chicago ain't nuthin' but a thang! If Prince announces a party, where there's a will, there's a way!! Me & my crew will be there! nod woot!

actually, there have been incidents with people who get intoxicated in the parking lot, then go inside etc. and must be removed by the bodyguards. i imagine prince pays a hefty sum to insure the place for parties and all.
