Believe it, honey. It's true. Prince has ZERO regard for his fans. "Do you really know what love is?"

Prince loves to generate excitement, and he loves attention... but I believe he would never just 'give us what we want', because (I think) that would make him feel like he's given up his power and authority.
But it's nice to hear about what people want, just the same.

Probably a Bria Valente box set. Don't have a need for anything else.

Dear Prince, If u are listening - I am just dying for a mirrored heart wristband (SOTT & Lovesexy), some zipper pulls with symbols and peace signs, and a deluxe Sign O the Times boxset complete with DVD and that long version of Adore.
Beyond that, I'll pretty much buy anything you offer. Insatiable is my name when it comes to you!

But, that's EXACTLY what you're getting with his "new" music, but at least the "best stuff" (non-rerecorded) in the vault is miles - hell, light years - ahead of what he's putting out now.

With regards to Prince saying that he will not release any more albums, he says that it is because he doesn't have a (label or distribution) deal.
What about his relationship with "Purple Records"? They are releasing both vinyl and CD formats.
This thread has turned into a great resource for what Prince fans really want. Thanks for participating in what I feel to be a constructive discussion.

The only problem is...............he will be releasing a new album. (I least I hope he will)

more vinyl. more raw recordings, like the bambi rehearsal. more punk rock, less gospel R&B. To make a thief, make an owner; to create crime, create laws.

more current synth pop sound To make a thief, make an owner; to create crime, create laws.

Now this is very thorough, and covers just about everything.
I really like what you wrote under "LIVE AND REHEARSAL". On a related note, I've always been into live recordings that capture the audience as well as good quality sound, mix, and separation of the instruments. Most soundboard live shows sound like rehearsals, because one can't hear the audience.
The best way to capture a live performance is to use the soundboard audio, but also use overhead mics to capture the audience as a whole.
The problem with audience recorded live shows, is that they will capture the immediate surroundings of the bootlegger, so you get the "solo screamers"
With the overhead mics (placed correctly), you get the audience represented as an entity.

I remember reading an interview with Prince's live sound guy from around the early 90's and apparently for the Act I AND Act II Soundboards he did just that, I think the remainder of Prince's sound boards are the flat direct recordings. When listening to his Ahdio shows this seemed to be true

YES!!! Reissue old tee shirts! I'm just saying...

Hi Teiemka,
I just caught this post, which is so well written.
Looks like we're both all about the music. I really like what you've written above about dampening the secondary market by re-releasing post WB stuff. I would also add the release of live concert video to that, as that would also greatly dampen the secondary market as well as provide some (officialy released) evidence, so to speak, of Prince's live greatness to all of these youth that still have no idea of what a "live wire" Prince is in concert.

I agree and would add DVDs of every tour from Dirty Mind to Welcome 2 America. I also want a DVD of his performace from the Fire It Up Tour, but I don't think he'd have the legal ability to do that. Of course, I hope I'm wrong, and he can add that also.

I'd be interested in a DVD of music videos/concerts by The Time. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

he knows we'll buy whatever he puts out.
so my request is if he releases any old...unreleased, vault stuff...be it audio or video, please PLEASE just leave it the f*ck alone....don't mess with it! don't clean it up, or try to make it better....we like it the way it is.
"not a fan" yeah...ok | |

- vinyl releases, limited, numbered... without expensive artwork but maybe with some liner notes. price will depend on quantity released.
(first 100 or 1000 or whatever orders come with a photo or something original)
- songs of such releases available for everyone as digital download in 256kbps for the price of maybe 1.50 USD per track.
- releases could include studio jams, live recs, outtakes or new songs. or combination like crystal ball. or spontanous mini albums 4-6 songs or so. (i like the crystal ball concept...)
now everybody can choose: do you want to invest in art/a piece of history (limited LP) or is a decent (more or less) sounding mp3 enough for your listening pleasure of such a release (iPad, iPhone...) but you're still able to listen to the music and enjoy it.
what I don't feel are the wishes for remasters. hm? Prince's stuff of the early days sounds still banging enuff for me. it is what it is. it captures the music and production style of a certain musical aera. i'm happy with adjusting some details on my amp or mixer...
Prince won't get rich with selling music anymore. these times are over (i think). but releasing stuff will always be a good promo for him as an artist. he must earn his money with live performances (i think the dakota shows are a very interesting way to do that (small fees for location (great promo for location cuz of P), small stage, small PA, no expensive light/media show, small band... BUT high prices & intimate, exclusive moments with a great/big artist). even the DJ set and DVD show sells out! great for him!

He said internet is dead ----> made a new website. I'd say the next steps will be make an album (since he said he won't) in which he'll put some cover of famous song.
What Purple Music have done so far is ininfluent. I think they would make an album for him if he asks. But I think he will actually make one.
I just hope anything he decides, won't be too expensive. I have two kids and can't starve them to buy prince's stuff, y'know...

Man, I forgot about the best idea of all:
A SIRIOUS/XM PRINCE CHANNEL
Anyone that's listened to the E Street channel (Bruce Springsteen) knows what a smashing success this would be.
I'm trying to find out how much Bruce makes per year, because this is all about Prince monetizing his catalogue. So I hope it's enough to get Prince's attention.
He could deliver product to hundreds of thousands of people (maybe millions) every single day.
Springsteen's channel is a huge hit and has been for 10 years. I'm sure it's played a large part in the success of Springsteen's music sales and concert ticket sales.

Damn... that's a great idea!
...Just nobody tell P that Bruce did it first.

Unless there's another way to get it (online stream or something) no thanks. Not investing in satellite radio for Prince...
Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

Yes, you can stream it online from Sirius/XM. You can also get it at home if you have Dish TV.
I don't think you don't have to buy a satellite radio.
UPDATE: Nope, you don't need a satellite radio: http://www.siriusxm.com/internetradio
I assume you could play it from your phone or tablet through your car stereo system if you have an aux input.
