I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man -fast version vs. Slow

Which one you like more? These days everybody rave about the slow minor key version but i don't feel it.I liked it when Prince did it for the first time in 2002 but now when i listen to it it's not all that.Nothing can top the urgency and arrangement of the original version.

He also did a slow version of it at the Chicago shows. Check it out on youtube. 3rd Eye Girl posted it.

Fast is best.

I saw that Chicago slow version on youtube and it only made me want to hear whatever the original song is that that music was meant for.

I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man is one of my favorites, so it's always cool to hear it - fast or slow.

I appreciate changing it up now and then, but I love the original, faster version the most.

All love.

I like 'em both... My favorite slow version is from the 2002 Celebration where he interpolated it with "Ain't No Sunshine," and gave time for each of his bandmembers to solo.

Original version is a lot better. Nothing wrong with trying out variations though.

Original Is always better.

However, I admire his ability to change things up and make them sound fantastic.

That night after Bernard Allison´s show? That was one of the best Prince concerts I´ve ever seen!

I was there and loved every second of it. Perfect. Perfect lights, perfect clothes, perfect sound, just flawless.

And I loved that version he did that night. But I have to agree with Banishedone here....it was nice when he did it in 2002 at Paisley, and during the ONA tour and the aftershows, and I still love the slow version a lot, but I felt the Youtube clip of the Chicago show was not that great. Too many background singers, not enough guitar playing, didn´t like the vocal delivery. But I love the slow version, depending on how he plays and sings it. I love how Prince uses different arrangements for wellknown songs, sometimes the results are great ( Something In The Water etc.), and sometimes not so great ( No Light In A Large Room).

I like both versions but my favorite one is the movie version.
