I don't know where folks' expectations came into play with regards to the spreecast. I thought the Doc made it very clear that it was going to be a discussion with him and the "uberfan". I can't be arsed to respond to the Doc's discussion points because nothing comes of it. Ever.

Anywho, there are so many folks acting brand new that I just don't know what to say. I've been saying that Prince should talk to us like a normal person for over ten years now and folks came at me for it.

Not going to pay anything for a website and don't think there should be another one. There was nothing wrong with NPGMC other than Prince not delivering content. I developed a camaraderie with people that was gone when the website died.

Bootlegs for "dayz" and other juvenile promises are just too much. I don't fall for the carrot on the stick anymore. A friend asked what I thought when the something big for 2013 thing was posted and I stated honestly that I don't care. I had no expectations and the little bit of excitement I did feel after hearing the new music was spoiled was fake cease and desist letters. If you're going to do a fake lawyer letter at least have the paragraphs justified on the left margin.

I will say that I do get jealous of the people who still have that fire and spark for Prince. I just can't anymore. "Something big" is coming and then you say don't have any expectations. I am too old for that shit.

Much as it wasn't the "big news" that we were hoping it would be, I think there were some really interesting things discussed on the Spreecast (there's going to be another one this Wednesday night, btw)

My survey thread (http://prince.org/msg/13/392149) - inspired by the discussion - was moved into the "Past, Present, Future sites" forum which is a bit of a graveyard at the moment, but for anyone that missed it, you can fill out the actual survey here.

I've also listened to the website discussion part of the Spreecast again and realised that what the Doc is talking about is not a "user pays" in terms of people just paying to download a song, etc... but rather that fans pool their funds to buy a licence (I guess) to post a song/video/etc... on the site. I think there are some major flaws in that idea, but it is interesting to think about. If anyone's interested in continuing that discussion, I started a thread specifically on the website idea here - http://prince.org/msg/13/392209 - as it's tricky to talk about all the different bits of news on the one thread.

Despite all of the issues he's had with them in the past, I've been keen to see Prince have an official online presence again for ages. I'm not sure this is the way to do it, but I'm at least glad that the internet is no longer a no-go zone for him and he's actually interested in exploring some possibilities.
