love it. can't figure out why he didn't just release the whole thing on 20TEN. it's clearly the entire song that was edited for release, rather than a true extended version.

that's what i was thinking. but he probably already had a 20Ten deluxe edition in mind,

or perhaps even ready, by the time he sold the regular 20Ten edition to the newspaper

in belgium.

i think it might have been a bit like Rave Un2 and Rave In2.

the 20Ten deluxe edition seemed to be just about ready to go at one point and then it

just fell off the radar again. this must be from that edition.

quite a few of the songs on the regular 20Ten sound like edits. a lot of people mention

that everytime those songs are talked about. i feel the same.

now i'm just hoping we'll get the 'original' (or: long) versions of Act of God and Lavaux

in the near future.

I quite liked both versions, and they're both logical when you look at them at what I suppose Prince figured: The original was cut for radio, as a single. Hell he played it on George Lopez, yet for whatever reason he never actually released it as a single. (A mistake.) The extended is Mr. P not worried about radioplay.

Sounds the opposite to me, it sounds like the entire song was the 3-min part, and the extended part just repetitions of the first part's groove and licks, to which he added guitar solos.

Nice to hear the full version, however by comparisson I don't feel the edited version is weaker in it's shorter compostion. In fact, I prefer the edit as it just sounded like an extended portion for the sake of it rather than bringing in a new groove or something exciting to the track.

The 20TEN we all have was an edited version meant for the just the papers he released them to in Europe. An album called 20TEN Deluxe was suppposed to follow it, but for whatever reason, he decided not to release it. This is the one with all the extra tracks and extended versions.

I will tell you right now. I can not get enough of this version of Laydown!!

I am a HUGE fan of the "20Ten" album and have been craving the extended, or a longer version of most the songs from the album including this one ever since talks went 'round on the org about the Deluxe 20Ten.

This song is just in your face crazy rocking funk! It's bold and should cranked at high decibels! Love it!

Now all I want is full extended versions of Compassion, Act of God, Sticky Like Glue and Lavaux.

A MILLION Thanks to PRINCE for releasing this!

I think its legit! First hearing it, it sounded more like a 'Remix' and I only say that because when he looped the phrase 'Let's Go'. I thought he was simply adding something to it. As someone mentioned..Whether it is the original or not, it sounds awesome. I love the added guitar and effects. It should have been released originally...AND he should have released the delux version in the USA. lol

BUT by then, Prince had moved on from '20Ten'. I still wondered why he called it that? The album really does not have a concept though, and in addition to that...he does not count numbers as he use to? Or does he?`Haha

I really liked it, and would have liked the deluxe edition if it existed. I listened to 20ten yesterday while driving since I hadn't listened to it in a while. Most albums have to grow on me, and I have to admit this one has... but I can understand where some fans may not enjoy it as much.. it doesn't have that punch that his older albums used to have, but... with that being said... Prince doesn't have to punch me anymore. If I want punch, I'll throw on BJB or something like that. I have chilled as I've grown and I am liking the softer stuff like Future Soul Song. Anyway, one man's opinion.

I always thought the album as a whole flowed so much better with LayDown as the opening track, followed immediately by Compassion and Beginning Endlessly.
