well it might all seem perfectly natural for most of you guys but i find this

to be confusing and quite a turn off.

when the twitter acount appeared and the songs were there to listen to,

out of the blue, it was a kick.

it conjured all this speculation and it would have generated hype over the

next few days, especially if a few more songs would have made their way

onto there in the next weeks.

what could possibly be the news to report now, for other websites or for

music magazines and sites? that a bootlegger uploaded a few tracks and

they were taken down?

from a non prince.org perspective, if this actually is part of the marketing

for a new project, it's dead in the water.

me, myself, i'm certainly no longer excited now.

before, i was like excited

no i'm just "meh"

I'm from the ''new generation'' but i know more people my age or around my age that love Bowie than love Prince, so yeah... so far i know Bowie is way more popular in general and also more popular to the younger people.

Sorry but this is bullshit. Bowie is not more famous in the new generation than Prince is.

He has been totally off the radar for ten years. His latest cd effort (great albums btw) have been confidential and not much played anywhere.

During all the Bowie concerts between 95 and the Reality Tour I have attended, in the audience, I have seen 90% of people in their early fourties to mid fifties.

Then you say Bowie is more popular in the world than Prince. This is wrong. They are both recognized as legends. But they are both not mainstream anymore at all. Full stop.

in this case advantage Bowie (but leaps and bounds). Not being out there with new stuff in years helps David. Bowie's album will debut at 1 and out sell prince by a factor of 5. Prince may debut at or near #1 but it will fall off immediately.

Bowie will also do better if he tours.

Yeah right.

We are on the org so it means for most people here anyone did, does and will do better than Prince always.

Now let's see if Bowie who has massive heart issues can support a tour to start with...

Not at all! I love David Bowie! I wish him health and happiness of course! But from what I know he has to be careful with stress, plane travelling etc

That's why i said that.

This isn't Stella Blu either. Both Prince and Stella have had their art "stolen". Her photo is easy to copy from the Internet. The real 3rdEysgirl? Who knows? A technician with an axe to grind? An act of revenge from a musician? This is not PR.

I wouldn't be surprised if you're right about that. Prince did say on Lopez's show a while back, that people have stole from him.

Dude thinks he's being stolen from when you take his pic.

I know of one instance of people actually stealing something from PP. Rest of it (= boots) is Prince et al being careless (or selling tapes they had).

Ok, I feel I need to throw in my own pennies into the ring....

First of all, I think that this Bowie / Prince thing should not be in this threat. Also as always who is to judge which is the better artist anyway. This is such a personal thing....

Second and most important of all, I think that right now our buddy Prince is laughing loud and long about all the fuzz that is happening here. I don't believe it was a bootleggers work and I don't believe it is a promotion thing either.
It is just P having fun.....

I'm listening to "gown" right now. I really like it. The one pop song on it, "pick me up" I think it's called sounds like it could be a Kate bush song, which I have absolutely no problem with.

90% of you guys seems confident it is Prince. I was confident that it wasn't Prince just because it didn't feel to me like Prince "vocabulary". Let me explain - self-deprecating jokes about his litigation policy "Dr Fink's Purple Experience... Taking bets now: who will get sued 1st? them or us?" Another example is jokey references to gambling "taking bets" and abortion "pulled mid-term" seem like nothing to us be to a serious JW that would not be ok. Even the song "Same page, different book" feels like his ideas about God before he became a JW and so not what he would want to release now.

I guess you guys know his style far better than me and know if I'm right or wrong.

It seems now that you guys are right, mainly because P's manager Kiran Sharma linked to 3rdEyegirl on her twitter but also because the C and D letter was poorly written for a legal team, as people have already pointed out. But still, most international legal teams would not allow a client to use their letterhead for a prank. Doesn't that surprise anyone?

If it is Prince then 3rdEyegirl is 3rd 'I' girl - a female Prince identity with a nod to "Third Eye" Eastern Mysticism.

I think you are all making this into something it is not. It's pretty simple, someone got a hold of tracks, someone posted them, they received a letter, their accounts will be shut down, sounds like business as usual to me.

Like I said yesterday, not Prince, and what do ya know, the stuff is gone! We all want new music bad, but all this hoopla over nothing, and creating crazy scenarios that have no basis in reality is just nuts smile I did enjoy reading this entire thread though.

RRA

I'm tired of the Bowie/Prince comparisons.

Here's the difference. Prince has allegedly a new album out this year, but don't want to blow his load yet in singles and all that. (Nevermind he just had a single, RNRLA out a few months ago.) He wants that fanbase primed and anticipating it. So he gives them goodies that quite frankly only the fanbase will care or understand to appreciate. His "new" song is good, but it's the sort of outtake that again fans care or would dig. He aimed at his fanbase, and scored.

You know that instant euphoria his fans got when these suckers first got uploaded because of the out of the blue surprise of it all? Well that's Bowie but not aimed at his fanbase, but at the whole world and again stated ad nauseum, he's not released crap in a decade.

Not just that, but the single Bowie released is so ridiculously radio friendly to the point that you suspect that song and radio are doing secretly doing the hanky panky at the song's secret love nest. The song emotionally connects people like good songs about mortality and death and living tend to do. Now I'm not dissing RNRLA, but it's a fun Prince melody. I enjoyed. You don't invest your lives into it like Bowie's single, nor designed to really.

Also, Bowie's single is backed by one surreal music video that's simple but dares you to interpret what it all means. I doubt there is an actual meaning to the symbology, but who cares the fun is the fan/public debating. "Did you see that Bowie video?" "yeah the one with dolls? Weird stuff man. Bowie is back!"

Two different artists, two different agendas, the only thing they both have in common is that they play guitar, rock n roll, (at times) dress rather infeminately, and Prince more than once has praised Bowie.

This reminds me of the time 'Box o chocolates' could never ever be a Prince song and it was just someone imitating.

Bootlegs 4 dayz at the end of the original screwdriver clip. Funkenberry and Hannah Ford getting all jizzy. If this ainy Prince, then I am a pink, camel fucking knight in lederhosen.

I was wondering about the 3rd eye reference, and came across this meaning of it: : "The third eye is the gate that opens to the space of consciousness and inner worlds. It is also the main organ through which the body of energy can be awakened and governed. In practice, the third eye acts as a 'switch' which activates higher states of consciousness and experiences of spiritual vision."
