that s why these recordings made no sense 4 me....
releasing a 30 years old video, extended version of an old song, and a rejected remix of r and r affair. The only 'new song' , for completists was interesting, but wasnt of big quality....
I like this stunt because it kept people talking and analysing it for a couple of days....props for the one who made this happen..
hopefully there will be a part two of this..
The video is 30 days old, at most. It's from December, 2012.

Oh man, the music is gone? That's what happens when u don't know how to, or are not in2 downloading stuff Was trying to sleep last night & Same Page Different Book kept running through my mind & as I don't really know it yet my mind kept flipping it onto Mad Sex, 'Bushy head mullato breakdown'... WHY??? There has to be a similarity somewhere in this music; speed, music rhythm, speech rhythm, the key, samples or even a part of the bassline? Anyone else hear something similar that keeps leading me to sing Mad sex in my mind? |

By the way, to those who claim the 3rd Eye nonsense was picked up oitside of the Org: yup, by a bunch of minor outlets. Meanwhile Bowie's video has just been featured on BBC One's news. Bowie's video on YouTube? Well, it isn't officially there but one illegal upload has had either 500,000 or 800,000 views. Vimeo doesn't seem to have any public numbers, but I bet it's at least as much.
Obviously Bowie is big news and it's being reported by the big news boys because he hasn't done anything for years and people thought he maybe wouldn't release anything again ever. Prince releasing something new isn't news at all. It goes along with the other amazing news that the sun rose again this morning.

Amen.
Check Bowie's sales for the last 23 years and come back here.
He is not doing better than Prince in terms of tix sold for gigs or CD sales.
The new generation knows shit about him like they know shit about Prince.
The strategy was confidential (through a non official account) meant for hardcore fans interested in digging in the vault. That's it.
Check the RNR Affair on Purple Music's youtube channel. It has 600000+ views. Not that bad at all. [Edited 1/9/13 5:32am] |

This C&D letter reads like an interlude from 'The Gold Experience'. I can actually hear the female narrator reading this. So staged. Oh well... another day in Prince-world. This is what you want...This is what you get. |

But he monetized on his sales in a better way.
The media campaign is also better.

That's a different type of outlet than the 3rdeyegirl channel which had 42K views last time I looked. (so maybe 50K when the vids were taken offline?)

Sorry but this is bullshit. Bowie is not more famous in the new generation than Prince is.
He has been totally off the radar for ten years. His latest cd effort (great albums btw) have been confidential and not much played anywhere.
During all the Bowie concerts between 95 and the Reality Tour I have attended, in the audience, I have seen 90% of people in their early fourties to mid fifties.
Then you say Bowie is more popular in the world than Prince. This is wrong. They are both recognized as legends. But they are both not mainstream anymore at all. Full stop. |
