People Pleaser - no way Prince didnt write this. This track is dripping Prince, yet in the liner notes there is no mention of him touching this track. I dont buy it, it makes me think he pretty much wrote the entire album while graciously giving her credit for most of it. Don't get me wrong, Andy has a great voice and is quite an amazing musician, but I think Prince has more input than is listed.
However, if those liner notes are indeed correct, then much props to Andy for the work she did on the 6 non Prince tracks.

Yes, the song is by Prince. For all intents and purposes, it is a Prince album. love, Spirit

That is what I originally thought, and still think, but was just working off the info on this site below stating he only co-wrote 3 songs, People Pleaser not being one of them.

'Prince Vault' is likely only to publish whatever credits were published on the release, unless further information is provided.
Prince has done this for his entire career, beginning with The Time. Simarlarly to Prince's involvement with Sheila E, there's NO credit to himself, but rather band members that didn't write (nor record) the parts on the albums.

I think it's very safe to say Prince wrote the entire album. "How embarrasing to be human!"

I disagree i think andy allo wrote the lyrics and i think the song sounded the way it did before prince and i think prince had somebody add the horn arrangments. Think about it Prince didn't write those solos he probably arranged the song. Andy wrote lyrics and prince would be like insert sax solo here and trumpet solo there.

The song is pretty simple. I wouldn't put it past Andy to have written this. The arrangement is all Prince & his horn section, though, and that is what makes the song what it is. My Legacy

Andy sings his songs well. 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

I wrote it. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

word.
Andy Allo's album is a Prince album, but instead of Prince singing we get yet another Protege singing over his music--this time the signer sounds a bit like Nora Jones after dental surgery.
Is it just me or does people pleaser sound like a rework of Red Heade Step Child sung by Tamar?

dont know if Prince wrote it or not but they should give Jeff Lorber some credits.
His song Raindance has the same groove.

This song musically sounds like a cover tune. I just can't put my finger on it. Opps.......never mind, see post above. [Edited 12/19/12 6:21am]

Thanks for that. 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Prince probably wrote and produced most of the album. However while most of his other proteges were just emulating his way of singing, Andy Allo does seem to add a bunch more personality imo. My Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/tundrah

This album is hot. Nothing More is as good a ballad as I've heard in years. Am I drinking the purple kook aid? 1 over Jordan...the greatest since

Not only drinking.......u drowned in it.

Ya think?
Prince wrote, produced everything on this CD!
It's excellent! [Edited 12/19/12 10:20am] The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Sure, he might as well give some of the cash to Billy Joe from Green Day too since he ripped "Brain Stew" off.

I wouldn't count on it.
Right from the start, the very first time he played People Pleaser on tv (I think it was the Canal+ show back when he promoted the MPLSound disc as the "Lotusflow3r" set in France), I had the genuine feeling that she did write it and he simply loved the track. In an interview, a couple of weeks later, I recall him calling People Pleaser "the best song ever", or something to that lines. I don't think he would call one of his own songs "the best song ever". It much more sounds like building a hype around a song someone else wrote that he simply liked, even though it might not be the best song ever.
Andy might not be a guitar virtuoso, but she is an above-average songwriter. She showed this on her first album already.
Also, notice how the arrangement for People Pleaser changed over the past two years (with horns and tight, pockety grooves and shit - THOSE scream Prince; but not the song itself, necessarily). Back on the Canal+ show it sounded nothing like a Prince song.

He produced it, but Andy wrote most of these songs. Either way its a great album. Very enjoyable from beginning to end.

The possibility is strong considering his history. You all know the story of him making a song with Stevie Nicks and turning down (or more accurately, never replying) to her request to share her songwriting credits with him. For that matter how long in the early 80s did he not publicly own up to being the author behind The Time and Vanity 6?

Also, he talked about Bria writing her album "Elixir," which is laughable. There are some songs on People Pleaser that seem written by Andy, there's one song with lyrics reminiscent of a song on her first album, and also "People Pleaser" sounds like hers, but heavily embellished by Prince. But definitely P wrote more than 3 songs on that album, most notably "If I was King" - Andy singing male p.o.v. lyrics, just like Bria's "Something U Already Know." What are the chances that both girls have that same quirky writing style? If you don't believe that the album is mostly Prince, then you also believe that Bria and Vanity 6 wrote all their songs...

Just like he Did With Vanity 6, Apollonia 6, Sheila E., Jill Jones and the list goes on... He writes and produces the entire album but he gives All the credit to the singer, specially if the singer is a 22years old caramel piece of ass he can bang
Of course he wrote the song, Probably the Whole SuperConductor album, c'mon

People Pleaser doesn't sound like Prince at all to me. I'm sure this is Andy Allo's song. The melody and main riff have a quality to them that I can't really describe accurately, but 'amateur' feels close. Maybe also 'uninspired.' Sounds like something a young singer-songwriter might write. It definitely does not sound like purple music.
I dunno, I don't want to hate on Andy, but to me Prince's writing style is so distinctive I'm a little surprised that so many people think he wrote People Pleaser.

Prince produced the album. I would count that as a pretty big mention in the liner notes.
