I Ain't One To Gossip But...

When you're wide awake at 3am, bored and on the internet, you end up on tawdry gossip sites. That's the only explanation I have as to how I wound up reading about the 80's singer, Perri "Pebbles" Reid's supposed lovechild.

Surprisingly, the author (and I use that word very loosely) of the article, Jacky, also mentioned Prince as having fathered an illegitimate child. I wouldn't have paid that too much mind unitl she name-dropped Jesse Johnson as someone who could verify the claim. eek

Like I said, that site doesn't seem like the most reputable, but there's no telling when it comes to rock stars. Besides, I thought you guys might get a kick out of this. I pasted the exact quote below and a link to the actual site below that.

Then again, I’m getting word Prince – who also found religion, as a Jehovah Witness – is reported to have once fathered a lovechild, who looks just like the “Purple Rain” singer. Sadly, insiders say the purple one’s now grown son is a known crack addict living in Rock Island Illinois. Don’t believe me.. Ask Jesse Johnson.

Except the tabloids are actually right sometimes. (Just ask John Edwards and Jesse Jackson with their love children.)

This is perfectly possible, considering how many beds Prince christened back in his heyday. And considering his relationships with the people he's worked with or dated, having no relationship with his natural offspring shouldn't surprise one either.

This does remind me of that Michael Jackson "love child" who wa s reported after MJ's demise and showed up at his Memorial.

Only one?

I bet there's more offspring.

And I understand they want to stay anonymous.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Sure. I'm reminded of Brian Epstein's assistant talking about the Beatles producing alot of love children in the 60s and having to meekly ask Epstein to write up confidentiality financial agreements to hush up the fact that they didn't realize it was just cheaper to masturbate than "play hockey."

Wouldn't he have to have had sex with a woman to have a love child? He admitted to his other three turkey baster experiments so why not a fourth?

Lisa Marie said that they had a healthy sex life.

Anyway, why would Prince's supposed love child live in Rock Island..... where Jesse is from? *scratches head*

I'm glad you caught that. I missed the Rock Island connection initially. Yeah, it sounds a bit too convenient.

I recall an article in a Ducth magazine where they hang backstage with the NPG in the mid-1990s at a concert in Holland, and one or two girls showed up to show several band members their offspring (the result of a previous tour stop in Holland on the D&p Tour).

Exactly!! plus alan leeds said groupies werent really histhing- the prince kept it " in house" which was waaay crazier bcos that meant he alan had to be go between while prince wasin the back of the bus with one protegee and his girlfriend was in the front of the bus seething etc.

not sayin that its impossible but i would take alan's word bcos he would have been the one to arrange the circumstances for the groupies.

That sounds cold and sad for all parties involved.

Yeah, that sounds horrible. It reminds me of stories I've heard about a couple of my uncles leaving kids behind in Europe after their tour of duty in WWII.

I've also read and the Beatles' illegitimate kids (especially Paul McCartney) and the claim that Marlon Brando went so far as to have an abortionist on call back in the early days of his career.

What I never got was how that kind of behavior could continue in the post-AIDS era. I mean, the prospect of kids would be enough to convince me to use protection, but the fear of diseases should hit home with everyone!

Wasn't there another story on here about Prince paying off a blonde woman to abort a baby some time in the 90's?

Lawd, these teenagers that are seen coming in and out of Paisley Park are NOT his offspring rolleyes.

Although, when the lights go down, they do often call Prince daddy or uncle, but I digress.

I also recall an article from Dutch music magazine Oor where they interviewed "backstage" folks, like limo driver etc. One told about how there was a line of teenage girls waiting outside of Bros' hotel room, who were let in one at the time and who left a while later via another door "clearly haing experienced something". (Bros were a hyperpopular pop group for a short period in the mid/late 1980s.

On a related note: one limo driver told about the night he had Prince in his car, passed by the venue where the show or aftershow was going to be (in Holland), and Prince climbed on the roof of the limo and started to dance.
