could of Prince gotten his master recordings peacefully?? How is it that the Jonas Bros, Metallica and various others get thier master recordings back without destroying thier career?? What could of Prince done differently and what more did WB want???

Because they PAID to get their masters back - Prince won't.
And rightly so - its a bit of a sting, isn't it? They're your creations, but you're having to buy back the rights to your own creations. Metallica renogtiated their contract around the time Prince was kicking up a stink about his. Prince had already signed his. I think Metallica took some notice and protected themselves for the future. Note, however, that it has taken another 20 years for them to get in to the position to get back their masters, so it was hardly an easy road.
I don't think Prince has destroyed his career at all. He's still active, he still gets coverage and is respected by many in the industry. He's not topping the charts (mainly because he chose not to play that game anymore), but who really cares about that? ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

That is one perspective of it, but there is another. One that says they were paid to create for the record company. And Prince, at one time, was one of the highest paid in history. The engineer working designing programs at Microsoft does not get to buy back his creations from Steve Jobs.

hmm.
My understanding is that Prince was going to get his master recordings after 30 years regardless, no?
in other words, the result of his master recordings being made available to him now (starting with his first records, and one each year after that), is the exact same result had he peacefully departed with Warners after his contract obligations ran out.
I think Prince wanted ALL his material right away, and that was never going to happen. Nobody forced his arm to sign the 108 million dollar contract.

The Gold Experience?
do we have to wait till 2025 then to see Gold getting free, a re-master..?
Who says I am alive then.. also, Prince could be dead and gone too by then.
Most likely the CD format is gone in 2025.
I wonder why Prince doesn't realize that, the time is now for re-releasing the classics...
damn what a shame.. Prince 4Ever.

What you're trying to say is could've - which is an abbreviation of could have.

Of course he could have got them back. But his pig headedness would allow it.
I'm sure he could have done a re-release / remaster deal to release the masters, but as ever, his pride got in the way. .

There shouldn't be a comma between a noun phrase and its verb phrase.

Do people not understand present perfect tense? It should read, "Could Prince have gotten his master recordings peacefully?" The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

That is why I said perspective. And this is the view of the record company, and apparently the law as he does not have the masters. Correct?

record companys are not in the habit of giving black artists their master back because the goal is to exploit black artist for all their worth.

His fight with WB gave a lot of publicity for the shadier aspects of the record industry. Before what happened to him and a few others like George Michael those things were not widely discussed. The average young artist getting signed didn't understand much about advances, royalties and things like that.
In that sense, it was probably worth it. He endangered his career for being able to speak about it publicly. When you read his interviews from that time period he's pretty much lecturing the interviewers and the readers about those things.

I literally spent 5 minutes of my life time thinking about a sentence that would take this a step further, but ... I just can't. You nailed it. There's nothing more to add.

'Have' should be next to gotten, since that's the verb it helps.
Could Prince have gotten his master recordings peacefully?
Answer: Sure, but he didn't. The end.
