Songs with Best Outro's

biggrin Part of what makes Prince so great is his ability to tease us with a great hook towards the end, makes you want the track to keep going. It's like he's driving the track off a cliff and you want to go along for the ride.

"Can't Stop This Feeling I Got" has a tasty outro. Makes you want be in the studio with him as he drives his guitar thru your heart.

Also the introduction of the acousitc guitar on Forever in my Life as the track fades to black.

The Rainbow Children title track outro and the way it seamlessly blends into Muse...

The build from the outro of Come into the beat of Space is otherworldly, too.

love,

Spirit

Play In The Sunshine

Positivity

Arms Of Orion biggrin

Many songs have great end sections, but I wouldn't necessarily call them outros ("Come", "In This Bed I Scream", "The Rainbow Children").

Thanks for the heads up, novabrkr, and fellow Arms of Orion-outro lover (although, I have to admit, I love the whole song).

Positivity is an exquisite choice.

Best outro...hmm... Joint 2 Joint! Best song from emancipation and outro is perfect!

Another would be The Continental, amazing the song and when I hear Mayte at the end....love it!

The outro of The Arms Of Orion just turns the track into something a bit more than just a cheesy ballad. It's sort of weird in its own way.

It depends on the person what they see as the "outro" on some tracks, but on "Come" I'd say the outro is really just some of those final horn lines and prince's final vocal lines, but not necessarily the whole buildup. A bit like how on "Purple Rain" the "oo-oo-o-ooh" chants are not the outro - it's the part with the orchestral arrangement at the very end.

I forgot:

Kiss (single version)

U Got The Look

7 (yeah, pretty much the same section as in the beginning, but whatever)

Worst:

Emancipation (bitch please)

Anotherloverloverholenyohead after the 'uh',

not really an outro but more of a prelude to music yet to come

always wish for it not to fade but alas to no avail sigh

and Purple Rain of course never get tired of hearing the outro mushy

When I 1st heard "GET ON THE BOAT", I thought, "meh"... but the outro to it made me instantly mooove. The full song itself grew on me & its OUTRO is STILL my favorite part.

If U came 2 get your 'Purple Rain' on...U'RE IN THE WRONG HOUSE!!!!!!

I've always loved the outro to "Dolphin." I was happy to hear a similar section used in "Starys of the World."

Anotherloverholenyhohead is a great choice. I always imagined Prince and the band jamming away, but the fader was merely turned down.. I wonder how many times these arbitrary fades have been used, when in reality the song continued into yet deeper realms of coolness..

The performance of 'The Ladder' during rehearsal that was shown on that late 80's BBC documentary is something I'd give my right arm to hear the rest of..it fades out just as Eric's sax kicks in, and it sounds fantastic...such a cool vibe.

How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore isn't blessed with an outro as such, but Prince keeps singing right to the end..making you concentrate to catch every last word. I like it when songs do that, it's such a tease, as if the singing went on for alot longer but you're just not privy to it!

The album version of Purple Rain - that outro made me cry the first time I heard it. It conveys so much pain and raw emotion purely through the music, no words needed. It's almost as if the instruments are crying. Gorgeous. Also, the screaming towards the end of The Beautiful Ones. Goosebumps every time.

Strange Relationship!!

Love the "yeah yeah!"'s and the sitar mixed with that crazy synth at the outro. Would love to hear an extended version.

(aside from purple rain) I have to say GOLD. I can still remember the first time I heard that outro. It was/is so powerful. The back ground music, the guitar solo, & the vocals... Flawless! And I just loved the npg operator saying "welcome 2 the dawn". All those years of prince saying "may u love 2 see the dawn".. And gold really made you feel like you just experienced a relaunch or rebirth of prince. He did an excellent job at selling himself as 0(+> with The Gold Experience. It's sad that WB didn't back that album

Also "U Got The Look"

I love how this new strange harmonic melody just comes out of nowhere before the fade.
