at the time the reference was regarding the assasination attempt on Ronald Reagan

the lack of gun control has been an issue for a long time in the US

Exactly. Gun Control is needed as much now as it was then when Prince said those words.

i used to be scared to travel through Atlanta because of this song.

Seriously, i never really gave the anti-christ too much thought. i still don't dwell on it but give it over to the Ascended Master Host for Their Action to blast and set us all free. This all started to make sense to me through the works of the Violet Flame and the St. Germain foundation. It appears that all discordant action, thoughts, activities can be traced to this terrible detterent.

Gun control is not a new debate in this country but is resurrected every time there is a heinous event such as the latest one publicized in the press. Then, it disappears until the next one... neutral

i'd say that gun control has been on the menu for the past 236 years, and all the taxi cabs are driven by immigrants.

Oh balls, i've lost The Game.

This is EXACTLY the same bloody thing that everbody on the internet says - and THEN (i'm using David Icke block capitals now) it's related in some way to the London Interest Banking Ofirice Rectum scandal that is beyond our means and should in no way infect us in the slightest.

I posit that there is no conspiracy, and only minor subjects of heironicles (ie, pressure leant on families) cracks like a twig under euriphidaeic maltiings.

The pressure comes from within, essentially. If Mr young Lanza's dad was in a high pressure job then his high pressure family would have appeared to be at low pressure and evapourated out of the atmosphere, it's just a bloody shame that in doing so him and his mum had a "if he's going to do that, we may as well take a few down with us as we go."

This is of course based on a total direct lack of information and may be proved wrong in court.

Stephen Colbert for Senator, eh? That'll sort the men from the other men!

Exactly. Gun Control is needed as much now as it was then when Prince said those words.

Exactly wrong. When people make shitty music you don't ban guitars. Guns are not the problem, mental health issues and education are the problem. Our culture is the problem. More people die each year in car accidents. Let's ban cars, too. At least when people die in DRUNK driving accidents the law targets the real problem, (being drunk) and not the false problem, (the cars).

I'm about as socially liberal as you're likely to meet, but even a slight application of reason will show you that CRAZY did this, not GUNS.

This is it right here. I am an American living in China. A few years ago we had a rash of school killings where children were attacked at random with knives. Not many guns around China, but the urban areas have the same murder rate as any large cities where millions of people live in close proximity. Crazy will find a way.

Really the best lyrics from this song....

"Liar, liar, liar!"
Gotcha in a jam
Put your head on the block
Somebody say, "ABSCAM!" (ABSCAM!)

The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Remember there is only one destination and that place is U
All of it. Everything. Is U.

It was something to do with corrupt members of the US and New York (Maybe) senate and/or house members. I take it was quite the sory at the time.

Abscam (sometimes ABSCAM) was a United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) sting operation run from the FBI's Hauppauge, Long Island, office in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The operation initially targeted trafficking in stolen property but was converted to a public corruption investigation.

The investigation ultimately led to the conviction of a United States Senator, five members of the House of Representatives, one member of the New Jersey State Senate, members of the Philadelphia City Council, and an inspector for the Immigration and Naturalization Service.

While I always liked the song, as a piece of socio-political commentary I thought it was pretty weak. I guess as a 23 year old from the mid-west Prince didn't yet have a world view like the 26 year old Mick Jagger possesed when he wrote the similarily themed "Sympathy for the Devil" in 1968. That said, the lyrics to "Annie Christian" are nearly "Dylanesque" when compared its album-mate "Ronnie Talk to Russia"...

Did the Crazy who stabbed the kids in China, kill 28 in only a few minutes?

Until recently, I believed that the 2nd amendment was still an important part of the balance of power in the US. I now realized that ordinary citizens have been out gunned for a long time now. There should be major restrictions on the buying, selling, and owning of firearms. There is no need for there to be 30+ rounds in a magazine (or whatever the bullet storage is called). They should limited the amount that a gun can hold to 5 or 6. That would save lives.

As for the mental health issue, lack of mental health services is an issue. People need to be educated about mental illness. There is a tremendous stigma attached to mental illness and it prevents people from getting the help they need. Many health insurances don't cover mental illness. That needs to change.
