Andy does not have a 'great' voice and her musicianship is not amazing.

The groove also reminds me of Living Color's Love Rears Its Ugly Head. "Sheeeeeeeeit"

We been wondering about this all time. What's even more striking is that she opens her mouth as wide as possible when she's laughing about simple questions. She's so unlikeable to the max. Horrible, horrible talent that is out there and supported by a mega star. Prince I will always miss and love U.

Hmm, both those songs share a lot with PP. But this is one case where I think it might not be an actual rippoff, rather a coincidence.

I am surprised about orgers not diggin this album. Regardless if Prince wrote it or not...I think its a really a really enjoyable easy listen. There is not a track on there I don't like. It's his best associate album since the 80s imo. I do think it has something to do with the fact that she (IMO!) has talent all her own and Prince is just enhancing that talent (kinda like Sheila E). If I Was King's ending alone is worthy enough for repeated listens. It reminds stuff from the Gold era. I like her voice too. Again this is only my OPINION. If you don't agree that is ok....to each their own .

Prince probably wrote and produced most of the album. However while most of his other proteges were just emulating his way of singing, Andy Allo does seem to add a bunch more personality imo. all vanity had was a kinky personality, Morris has the gimmick, Sheila e was a better percussionist than singer. Only competition Andy Allo has among protégés was Jill jones, and that album I haven't heard. Andy Allo IMO easily has the best protege album based on length plus quality of songs. The time is just a favorite of mine because of the instrumentals and a few hooks and verses. Prince would easily sing those songs a lot better. The family also had pretty good songs, but yet again would prefer prince on the vocals. Andy Allo still sounds a bit off sometimes, but has a lot more popstar qualities than his earlier protégés.My Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/tundrah

That's a huge reason why this CD is good. It sounds like a collaboration not just Prince laying down a track and her singing over it. There was always a varied result when he did that in the past. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Yeah, it doesn't really sound like a melody written by Prince.
I don't personally feel the need to call it "amateurish", but even some of the weakest "contemporary funk" tracks that Prince has put out (say, "Push It up", "Mr. Happy") have had a melodic flow that works admirably well in the end. This just goes "I used to be a people pleasah...." (pause), "I used to be a midnite teasah..." (pause)...
I think it's mainly the production that saves the track. The melody is so simple that it has left a lot of room for Prince and the other musicians to add their stuff to it.
