Such a gorgeous song and video, wonder if it was slightly weird working with someone with your recently ex-wife's name??

Really like this album, Mr Goodnight is a lot of fun, just wish I could have seen it performed live, or even a video made for it.

I like Planet Earth, but I don't love it. I can not figure out why people hate the album so much.

All the Midnights... is a lovely little tune, and Mr. Goodnight is hilarious and fun.

The One U Wanna C is nice too.

I mean, the album isn't earth shattering or exciting. But it reminds me sort of a like a more tame Around The World in A day married to 3121.

While specific recording dates are not known, it is likely that initial tracking took place in 2006 or early 2007, most likely at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA (although possibly at either 3121 at The Rio Las Vegas, NV, USA or Circle House Miami, FL, USA). Former Revolution bandmembers Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman are credited on the album without any specific track credits (as is the case with all musicians involved on the album), but it is believed that they contributed to this track (as well as Resolution). It is not known when or where their contribution was recorded, however.

The One U Wanna C

Oh...

I know I ain't the first 2 tell ya
I sho' bet I won't be the last
I know U're in a hurry, baby
So let me make this fast
Do it...

CHORUS:
I've got a lotta money
I don't wanna spend it on me
I like pretty thangs — U're just as pretty as U can be
So if U ain't busy later
And U want some company
I ain't trying 2 be a hater
I'm the one... I'm the one...
The one U wanna C... U wanna C

Listen...
Look around U, baby
U know U seen it all before (Before)
Every nickel in this club lookin' 4 a dime
Nothing less, nothing more

2 tall 2 be talked down 2
(U're 2 tall 2 be talked down 2 — yeah yeah yeah)
2 over it 2 be put under (Any spell they could find)
Any spell the blind fishermen could cast
That's why I come like thunder 2 tell U...

I got a lotta money
But I don't wanna spend it on me
I like pretty thangs and U're just as pretty as U can be, oh, oh!
So if U ain't busy later
And U want some company
I ain't trying 2 be a hater
But I'm the one... I'm the one...
The one U wanna C... U wanna see
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah) {x4}
Hey

Oh, alright

U don't need 2 fix your hair
4 somebody U don't care 4
U don't need 2 shave your legs
If it ain't me that's knocking at your door, oh!

I know U ain't no concubine
I know U ain't a one night stand (One night stand)
I don't wanna waste your time
If U wanna get creamy...

I'm the one U wanna C (The one U wanna see)
Ooh, the one U wanna C baby (The one U wanna C)
Oh, the one U wanna C (The one U wanna C)
Wanna C, wanna C, baby please! (Please)

(I'm the one U wanna C) (Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Talk with me, don't tease
(The one U wanna C) (Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
U know I could bring a woman 2 her knees
(I'm the one U wanna C) (Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
I'm the one, babe, U wanna C
(The one U wanna)
Coming on U like thunder

(I'm the one U wanna C)
Let no man put asunder, not this time
(The one U wanna C)
Get down one time, get down 3 times
(I'm the one U wanna C)
Hey girl, daddy don't know
(I'm the one U wanna)
Na na na no no, oh!

(I'm the one U wanna C)
The one U wanna C
(The one U wanna C)
I'm the one U wanna C
(I'm the one U wanna C)
I'm the one U wanna C

A very muddled era. I have rethought Planet Earth and would now like to deem it a very good album. It has two classics and most of the others being very good songs. Even All The Midnights is cute.

Those who diss this album really need ears to hear.

The 21 Nights book is a hunk of crap. The songs are booorinnng.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

Q MAGAZINE

Prince
Planet Earth
[3 stars]

Could it be the shape of things to come? Or could it simply be a one-off act of mischief perpetrated by an artist with a long-running list of grievances against those who market his wares? Either way, Prince’s decision to give away his new album for free in the UK has sent a few more shudders down the spine of an ailing record industry still struggling to come to terms with the download revolution. There’s just one small catch: you had to buy the July 15 edition of The Mail On Sunday. Failing that, it’s also being handed out, as part of the ticket price, to those attending his upcoming, marathon stint at London’s newly opened O2 Arena.

With the newspaper reportedly paying £250,000 for the privilege, that represents a tidy bit of business for somebody whose career had been dribbling away since the early-‘90s, hitting rock bottom with 2001’s The Rainbow Children, his jazz-influenced Jehovah’s Witness concept album. In 2004, however, the unthinkable happened: he bounced back and began to sound more like the old Prince again.

While Musicology couldn’t hope to match the audacious, pervy, all-singing, all-dancing, miniature sex god and musical polymath of his more youthful purple period, it was a decent enough facsimile, one which he reprised for last year’s 3121. Unsurprisingly, Planet Earth is more of the same, both echoing his own past and occasionally chiming with the more modish likes of OutKast, Kanye West and Gnarls Barkley, names that he influenced in the first place.

Try as others might, though, nobody else has ever really got close to replicating what Prince does himself. And across Planet Earth’s brisk and varied 10 tracks, he is once again doing it pretty well, from cocky rock strut (Guitar) to Chic-style, pumped-up funk (Chelsea Rodgers) and knicker-loosening R&B beats (Future Baby Mama).

Elsewhere, there’s another playful exercise in seduction on the lightly rapping Mr. Goodnight, The One U Wanna C is the jolliest

of pop stomps, while Somewhere Here On Earth shows off his still sugar-sweet falsetto in a swooning, cocktail-jazz setting. Even the misfiring title track possesses a lighters-aloft sway and blustering guitar finale to fit the stadiums he is once again filling.
At the very least, it’s good to have him back freshly energised and making music again for the many rather than just the few. As for Planet Earth’s wider implications on the record business, the next few months should be interesting. PETER KANE

Future Baby Mama is the fifth track from Prince's 32nd album Planet Earth, and, in late 2007, Future Baby Mama was available as a promo single in the France only as the album's third worldwide single (but the first and only in France). On 10 February, 2008, the track won the Grammy Award for "Best Male R&B Vocal Performance" (beating Woman by Raheem DeVaughn, B.U.D.D.Y. by Musiq Soulchild, Because Of You by Ne-Yo and Please Don't Go by Tank).

-PrinceVault

Future Baby Mama

Oh yeah
Hey, hey
(Future baby mama)

I've heard it said my lovers look alike
Could it be that I was lookin' 4 U?
They were cool but something wasn't right
They had me fooled 4 a minute and then I saw the truth

CHORUS:
None of them got what it takes 2 be a future baby mama
Gotta bend in the wind, but don't break 2 keep your man
Show me one of them and I'll make her mine with no more drama
Future baby mama

I've heard it said that I won't treat U right
(U know that ain't right)
But they ain't sure cuz they don't know nothing about U
(U know U want me, baby)
U're 2 secure 2 ever wanna fuss and fight
(That's right)
That's why your man never ever got a reason 2 doubt U

None of them got what it takes (Got what it takes)
2 be a future baby mama
Bend in the wind, but don't break (U gotta bend, U got 2 bend, no)
2 keep your man (Hey hey hey hey)
Show me one of them and I'll make her mine
With no more drama (No more drama)
Future baby mama

Yeah, I know U might be fine but I seen it all before
Cinderella was a waste of time then oops, she's out the door
2 build a house 2gether, the thing that matters most (Matters most)
Is under the floor ... a strong foundation that lasts 4ever more

I want 2 make U happy, baby
(Oh yes)
Happier than happy itself
(Oh yes)
U know what?
If U ever need a hand, call me, I'll help (Call me, call me, call me)
Cuz I got U, wherever U wanna go, mm-hmm
(Oh yes)
Paris, London, Africa, San Lucas, Mexico
U see, I know what U want
(I know ) {x2}
What every good woman wants
A man so in love with U
He can't help but 2 flaunt U
Deep down I know what U want
U want your girlfriends 2 hate U
(Oh yes)
Cuz they can't get your man

CHORUS
(They ain't got what it takes, baby, no, no)
(Like the wind, like the wind)
(Show me 1 of them and I'll make her mine)
(No more drama)
(Future baby mama) {repeated}
(Mama) {repeated}

Uh-huh
Now what U wanna do?

London’s ‘most prolific luxury nightclub’ offers elegant Chinese-inspired decor; flattering lighting and comfortable seating reign supreme. Much like Mahiki, drinks don’t come cheap – a glass of champagne will set you back €19 – but you can buy cigarettes here, which saves a run to the nearest off-licence. Just don’t expect to pay under €11.

Prince’s residency at the O2 Arena is one of the more unusual spectacles in recent memory. It certainly was successful. The Gigwise website reported:Â

“Princes O2 Arena residency has been voted as the best British concert of the year, controversially ahead of Led Zeppelin’s reformation show this month.Â

The Telegraph deemed that ‘nothing in British music history has come close to Prince’s run of 21 live shows at the O2 arena.’ A pretty bold statement we’re sure you’ll agree! The Zep’s Ahmet Ertegun’s tribute concert at the very same venue came in at second place, with newspaper saying that they were ‘blown away’ by the sheer spectacle.” These shows ran from August 1st to September 21st. Played “in the round” on a stage shaped like Prince’s symbol, it guaranteed a good view for the spectators. The September 13th show occurs by the end of this series. The sound quality is excellent given the acoustics of the venue.Â

There is a huge echo surrounding the music but there is significant detail and there is a really nice live sound. There are no cuts and it presents the concert in its entirety.

Prince presents a massive show with hits from his thirty year career, mostly played in segues, medleys and references. It is a two hour onslaught of funk, metal, jazz, and everything else thrown in. The show begins with comments from his induction into the UK Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, where some of the more modest comments claim that he can do it all and that he is among the greatest artists. “London. I am here. Where are you?” The opening salvo consists of the expected hits “Let’s Go Crazy,” “1999,” “I Feel For You,” and ”Controversy.”  ”Musicology” segues into “Prince & The Band” with Prince asking the audience “is my band tight or what?” That song contains the full three verses and is followed by Miles Davis’ “All Blues.” “What A Wonderful World” contains an interlude of Elton John’s “Your Song” played, no doubt, since he was there.  This is the first of a “piano interlude.”  The songs listed in the piano set including “Little Red Corvette,” “I Would Die 4 U,” and “Under The Cherry Moon” are merely hinted at and not played in full.

The main set picks up again with “Cream.” “Guitar” contains a long solo where Prince shows his chops. “London! Oh my goodness. What shall we do?  We got too many hits. Let me see. Do you want to hear ‘Raspberry Beret’?  ’Sign O’ The Times’?… We ran out of hits” he says before “Kiss.”  The set closer is an eight minute rendition of “Purple Rain.”  Prince leaves the stage for three minutes (edited from the tape) before returning with Elton John. They play a ragged version of “The Long & Winding Road” with Elton taking the vocals and a jazzy, Vegas style interlude.  After “If I Were Your Girlfriend” the “synth” set begins with a snippet of “Bennie & The Jets.”  Similar to the piano section, the songs listed are snippets played in a medley.  The show closes with full versions of “A Love Bizarre” and “Chelsea Rodgers.”

After many of the shows Prince played an “aftershow” set at the IndigO2, which is part of the Arena.  Many of these shows lasted longer than the O2 gig. Godfather include several songs from the September 9th aftershow that lasted for two and a half hours, ending about 3am. It is a small club atmosphere but the tape is very clear and enjoyable, and it is amazing to consider the inhuman amount of energy Prince has to play these long sets. It is a shame only a fraction of the set is included (maybe Godfather could have issued this as a three disc set??), but the highlights include a long “Peach Jam” and a nine minute “Girls And Boys” that includes a bit of “Miss You.”  This is packaged in a tri-fold cardboard gatefold sleeve with many photographs from the set of shows at the O2 Arena. This release serves as a reminder of Prince’s formidable force as a live act, and with the excellent sound quality makes this a potent document from the Earth tour

It was quite corny, but so was most of the stuff he did in the 1980s. shrug
