Is Your Prince Feeling Gone

I mean do you feel it's a wrap for Prince? Has he gone as far as he can go as an artist? Do you still like his music? It's bothering me, but I think I'm over the purpleness lol I mean the music doesn't excite me anymore- I think I'm done.

Never be done for me, because almost anything he releases is better than all the other crap out there. I mean even if for example 'Rock & Roll Love Affair' is no 'Little Red Corvette' it's still better than anything Bieber or Britney is going to put out. Also I was incredibly impressed with 2009's Lotusflo3er/MPLSound. Granted 20Ten wasn't the best, but we know he punches out music every year so we are bound to get some perfection and just some of what he wants to release just because.

I'm happy and looking forward to whatever he releases. I don't need it to be groundbreaking. He's old, I'm old. Let the kids to do the new stuff that I don't get because I'm old.

I did love Lotus still do-guess he still puts out a gem every now n then, but it seems the excitement is gone.

No. Prince will always be tops in my book. There are many avenues he could use, if he chooses to.

Prince is the Artist of All Time. He could write a book, design a multitude of ideas into a single song/picture or something else that none of us could even dream of.

If instead Prince wants to direct his attention to his private life, he deserves that right. He's given us more than any other artist has at this point in time. So much healing love thru his lyrics that will never die, what he has given us will live on and on... Forever in my Life, heart

Not at all. I may not travel far to see him like I used to, but its still a great ride. I love his concerts and puts out a new gem here and there with his new music.

Absolutely NOT. I look forward 2 a prince album each year (although it's not been yearly sad ) I actually like each album 2. Atlhough some ppl dog newer albums because they are missing the "purple hay day " feel. I love and appreciate them and the new directions that Prince is going in. Now granted some may take me a minute to get into but overall, the immediate "puple High" I get when getting a new Prince album is priceless. Wish he would get back to a yearly record. It's amazing that prince can create so many different types of music and sounds from year to year, keeping us all inspired, and opening our diversity in music. So no the Prince feeling is not Gone for Me.....

I think I've lost the Prince Feeling, yeah. And I'm relieved! For the past few years, Prince completely dominated my listening habits. I wasn't interested in hearing any other music at all, because Prince made all other music redundant. At first it was really nice to be so into something and enjoy it so much. But after a while... you've played out all the albums you like, you're listening to Rock n Roll Love Affair and saying, 'well... I guess this is ok...', you're sorta looking for something else to listen to but you've lost touch with any other kind of music and your mp3 player is mostly Prince... You want to break up but stay friends with Prince's music.

Regarding the, 'at least his new music is still better than Justin Bieber' argument: I agree, if someone made me choose between RnR Affair and a Bieber track, I'd sigh heavily and then choose Prince. But nobody is making me choose like that. Who cares how much better Prince is than other pop artists (I don't even think that's true these days), I can find music that I actually like.

Yes.as much as i hate to say it.

Tried to watch some of his concerts tonight, and they seemed really bland.

Haven't popped a cd of his in the player in over a year.

Yeah..the "feeling"is gone,and so is he imo.

TBH,only he can bring it back.

I'll be waiting..

Its a quiet time at the moment, regardless of a single being released, which as much as I like it has already sank into obscurity before even being released due to Princes bizarre publication techniques.
Id say because of this, its had a knock on effect for me in that after 7/8 years of being a constant fan, I've found the last few weeks, im not thinking about him or his next move hardly at all (which is probably a healthy thing). Although it being what it is, I definitely felt a bit pissed at him for the first time with the whole Lpp thing, just based on my admiration for Troy's work, but hey ho, life goes on...
Am just like anyone else in waiting for his next move be that album/tour etc, but as far as I'm concerned this is a healthy little down time for me as a fan and my family and friends ears

It's been going down for most of the century. The North Sea Jazz Festival revived it, but that was more than a year ago. These days I regard Prince just as a very good musician, nothing more nothing less.

please allow me a different point of view. i think (at least in part) the reason that some of us no longer feel that 'thrill' is on us, the fans. we're older, colder and more burdened than we were back in the day.

when we were in our 20s, the world seemed like an opening door and our lives stretched out before us like a red carpet. we'd party till we saw the dawn and go about our busines with that extra little lift in our hearts after a sweet night of dancing to prince tunes.

we're older now. no longer carefree. we have mortgages to pay, kids to raise, and decisions to make against the backrop of an uncertain and bleak economy. music that used to serve as our quick fix and lift us up no longer does so, not because it is not uplifting, but because we have become too heavy to uplift in this fashion.

we used to turn to prince to cheer us up and we still do, but now we can see far enough to know that it's not that simple anymore. the world is complicated, and our lives are short. we're impatient now and place the blame on prince for not quite transporting us back to the mindset we enjoyed during the golden years of back in the day.

we blame prince for changing without even seeing that we have been changing too.

Nope. One of the things I respect about Prince, is that he never allowed anyone, regardless of any criticism from fans/media/music industry, etc., to prevent him from creating/playing music his way. He still doesn't allow anyone to pigeon-hole him into one category of music. He's still risky with his music, and doesn't try to jump on the bandwagon-of-all-artists-sounding-the-same, especially like many of the new artists today, which the industry promotes, where none so far, have revolutionized the sound of music, like Prince and other artists have done and are known for, in the past.

His C&D hace no jurisdiction over here.

And else I will hire that Moskowitz fella that fell from grace; his fees will be somewhat lower by now.

Actually, the feeling is stronger than ever. I don't think R&RLA is an amazing song..... but, I didn't think Te Amo Corazon was, either, and 3121 as a whole is probably my favorite album he's made in the last decade. The fact that it's been an unprecedented time since he last released an album makes me excited, because you know it means that he's got stronger material to choose from when he does decide to release something....

yeah i feel the same, i'm no longer crushing on him.. i'm on the verge of changing my username, the purple dimension is VERY dull at the mo, what with predictable concerts, andy allo, r&r affair, those yellow trousers & now the petit prince.. prince is officially a boring old codger, unfunky & unsexy

i used to be rather hardcore purple, but nowdays i am tinted slightly purple.

the feeling is still there, but nowhere as strong as it used to be.

i still play a lot of old school 70s and 80s prince at work, and whenever any of it comes on, people get really happy. i have a few 90s and even a few post-2000 in the mix, and they go over well... but nothing past black sweat or musicology.

too many years of mediocre releases, half-assed projects, and outright annoyance has left me rather cautious about him.

i downloaded 20ten and slowly deleted most of it from my itunes. RnR isnt really doing it for me, but its ok. but i certainly wont be importing a single with a mediocre song and some god-awful remixes.

the whole le petit prince thing certainly didnt help

I still appreciate and respect the man for all the great music he's given me over the years (no one else will ever top it), but yeah, at this point I only really come here to check for news about remasters of the Warner years.

I love parts of Lotusflower, but I couldn't muster up the enthusiasm to order 20ten on eBay, and haven't even bothered to track down R&R yet. I don't blame the man, he's earned the right to release anything he wants. But I'm not gonna work to get it.

i also have to say i havent hardcore loved a track since PFUnk, and its a shame that that grew out of yet another of his endless string of dick moves.

damn good track, even for its bile.

but then, i have always maintained he is at his best when he has something to prove.
