Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do

"Wherever U are, think of your dreams
Oooh please, remember life ain't always what it seems
4 each rainy day (rainy day) that comes your way
The sun will come shinin' and U'll be okay
Keep on smilin' - every girl and boy
Remember when U were children U had toys
Wherever U are, think of your dreams
Remember that dreams become the life U lead

Whatever U play, it's okay 2 lose (sometimes Oh, sometimes)
As long as U learn from every game U choose
If one thing is sure, U'll always endure
If U try your best at everything U do
Say what U mean and mean what U say
The price 4 a broken heart's 2 much 2 pay
And nothing is worth it if U don't have 2 try
The higher the stakes, the higher the sky"

I forgot how POSITIVE and how much I dig this song...one of my favorite Prince pop songs....of course he has so many songs and stories but it's cool when one of his songs resonates on a personal level. It's as if he's writing about my current challenge in those last two verses. I'm trying...gave up financial success to follow my passion. This song inspires me to continue.

-Thanks P!

When I first heard this song, it sounded 2 me like he was saying goodbye. Very emotional song.

Don't hate me 'cause I'm NOT beautiful

one of the best lines he ever wrote, perhaps he read it somewhere, LOL

Rave has seriously underrated material, overall better than C&D, Emancipation, Truth and NPS

the man who returned with The Rainbow Children was neither "Prince" nor "The Symbol- Artist Formerly Know As Prince"

Great pop song, used to think it should've been a single, kind of reminds me of "every breath you take" somehow. The second half of the Rave album has some really great moments, a lot better than the first half of the album.

We're here, might as well get into it.

In essence, he was. He was saying goodbye to Mayte and to prince.

I remember when Lenny K. released "Again," Prince was pissed because he had pretty much ripped his song off and had a hit with it. I wonder if he let Lenny hear it before it was released?

It's rather trite. And the lyrics are pretty dreadful.

Still, I rank it as a guilty pleasure.

Yeah, it's a guilty pleasure. A really enjoyable track to listen to, but you definitely wouldn't want to play it to your friends in an attempt to prove that Prince didn't lose it after the 80s. It's kitschy in a way that you can't be sure whether he even realized it himself or not.

I like how some of the previous posters describes the track as happy and sad at the same time. I'm always reminded of the early winter period in 1999 when I listen to it (the album came out at the end of the year).

A few other tracks from the album like "Silly Game" work in a similar way as well.

er

This thread about Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do & the other thread about RBHIMA made me go back & re-listen 2 both these songs. Then I heard something that's the similar in them. Right at the very start, that hi-hat sort of bell sound, it starts both songs.

Don't recall that sound starting any other? So, r these 2 related or connected in some way? Could they possibly be about the same subject or same person? Hmm, I can just imagine that Prince would do something cool like that, like something only he would understand.

I love Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do cuz it's a reassuring song. Prince is giving a little encouragement & letting us know he'll always b there thru his music. And cud this also b connected-

'B4 I break baby, I wanna let u know
That whatever I do, whoever I'm with, wherever I go
U're the only one that moves me
Through summer rain or winter snow'

Or am I just taking it 2 far?! lol Ha ha

It's a song with inspiring lyrics and a very good and yet easily accessible melody. This is Prince being rather mainstream without being dull.

Lenny is still totally listenable, while Prince is not. This simple groove included.

eek , i'm definately in the complete opposite camp, can hardly bring myself to listen to Lenny these days, his music's gone stale for me.
