21 Years of Loving Prince

With all these threads on album anniversaries and other dates etc, I want to mention that November marks my 21st anniversary of being a Prince fan. I know its nebulous on a site where most people may have been fans since Purple Rain or even earlier. Some guys have been fans since For You, which just totally wins my respect.

I am mentioning it as Prince is the only artist I have been a fan of since High School. I was a fan through high school, undergrad and postgrad university, my working life and my unemployed life. I have watched myself age from adolescence into near middle age getting into the grooves of Prince.

I first heard of him with the song Little Red Corvette, and kind of liked him from Raspberry Beret onwards thinking he was cool at the time of Batman and finally becoming commited when I watched the video to Cream sometime in November 1991.

When I saw the video I saw him, his guitar playing, the dancing and the sexy women and then the song itself and knew this would be a defining moment of my life.

Heres to another 21 I say. To celebrate so far I bought a copy of Prince by Matt Thorne and can not wait to read it. I am amazed they have it on sale here.

Ad thank you Prince for a terrific 21 years of you and your music being number 1 in my head.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Exactly, when I tried to buy it from there they wanted to charge $25 for the book and 29.95 postage and handling as its a double sized book. What I don't like about Amazon is they never showing the postage and handling cost (They use the American word shipping, who ships in this age of jet travel?), until the part you give your c/c details, I usually see the price (Never cheaper than $13) and pull out. Mainly as theres no Amazon NZ, only Australia and UK.

Its overpriced here too, my Australian mates told me they bought it for $20 AUD from K mart.

Interesting ... I became a fan of P's in November as well. Emancipation Era was my introduction to Prince on grand scale: Jam of The Year Miami, Emancipation and Chaos & Disorder all in the same month
