Prince Fantasty supergroup? If you could put together a group of musicians to be a supergroup backing band who would you choose? Lead vocals & Whatever - Prince Guitar - Jesse Johnson Drums - Questlove Keyboards - D'Angelo Bass - Bootsy Collins Backing singers - Nikka Costa, Macy Gray & Angie Stone Produced by Prince, Dr.Dre & Timbaland BOOM! You can afford it all Prince, make it happen! “Tuna, you better do something or else we gonna have to put you back in the can!”

Prince with Bootsy on bass? I don't think. Bootsy towers above everybody else, both literally (he's really tall) and in terms of charisma. He'd steal the show! Besides, having great musicians together doesn't always make a great band.

Prince-Guitar, Piano Vernon Reid-Guitar Wendy-Guitar Sonny T-Bass Dr Fink-Keys Lisa-Keys John Blackwell-Drums Sheila E-Drums/Percussion/Backing Vocals
Horn Section(Only to be used on songs that benefit from Horns....NOT on Let's Go Crazy) Greg Boyer-Trombone Eric Leeds-Sax Atlanta Bliss-Trumpet
Shelby J-Mute
As for the Shelby Joke....she can sing if used properly, but being a stage flunkee shouting Put Your Hands Up...is a sad example of when awful simply morphs into Self-Parody.

I don't think who P hires as an instrument player when putting an album together makes a crucial difference to the sound of the album. For live shows yes he'd look&sound all fancy with people like Sheila & Eric Leeds but I have no problem with his current horn band either. As for maybe adding some fresh change to his album, I'd rather see him with Q-tip or ?uestlove than Timblaland. Not that I actually expect this to ever happen

PopcornFetus has an answer similar to what I'd post.
Why does everyone pick ex-bandmembers when the topic of Supergroup comes up? I'd love to see Prince with a bunch of equals or even perhaps some better than him.
It wouldn't be Prince & The Supergroup . . . it would be equal.

They Weather Channel already has a perfectly good theme song for their 7-Day Forecast. That line-up would mos def make some slightly above-average elevator music, though.

Don't NEED nothin/nobody else.

^THAT is something I'd want to hear! Especially because the other two wouldn't try to upstage Prince, which is why I made that Bootsy comment.

I saw your Bootsy comment and agree. Speaking just on the music, I am looking for a straight up raw bass. Throw in a little fuzz and some compression and leave it alone. Don't need Bootsy's 76 pedals with bass synth, flanger, jet phaser, lemon squeeze and kitchen sink burying the bass line. Bootsy is a legend, but not in this band.

Thanks, I think I wrote that part as a response to people who said Prince Sonny& Michael are all it takes for an amazing album....because it's not!!

Prince - Poncing and preening.
Cannibal Corpse - Backing band.
Then we could have Jeffrey Dahmer doing the catering, Richard Ramirez doing security, and lets not forget Gary Glitter and Jimmy Savile providing babysitting duties.

This line up is capable of doing anything, probably including elevator music. With the exception of Christian Scott, they all have played on more sessions then they can remember.

Studio album with the following group and played & produced with an organic, live sound would be amazing. Prince Renato Nato -- he has so many brilliant solos on Price live and unreleased, but he's played on maybe one studio track. John Blackwell -- drums Josh Dunbam -- bass, that Alphabet Street bass line on Indigo Nights is ridiculous! Wendy -- guitar Bruce Springsteen -- song co-writer Angelo Moore -- backing vocals, if there's somebody around who elicit his great vocal capabilities and some quirkiness, without letting the quirky dominance everything else "Love & honesty, peace & harmony"

Clearly it should be:
Prince - Guitar and vocals Bruce Springsteen - Guitar and vocals Me - Guitar, drooling and jaw drops
I don't care who plays anything else. Give me us three on guitar and you can put a 3-year-old on pots and pans for all I'd care.
