I like the song a lot, and I think the title is way cool.

I don't listen to mainstream radio anymore but I wouldn't be surprised if they like it because the song is dull and the only thing that mainstream radio likes is dull.

SWR3 doesn't even mention "Lotusflower / MPLS" at all in their Prince biography and discography.

http://www.swr3.de/musik/...44/phqqzx/

And that's because it was an independet release, no one sent them free goodies, there wasn't a listening event with free food and booze and they didn't get paid to play that stuff. So these "journalists" ignored this album completely.

It is ok if you and others don`t like the song, but many here like the song and what is probably more important, the public seems to enjoy it smile

Don`t know why you wish that RNR affair is never played or why you wonder that purple music, the label, has a promotion company? Seems all a bit strange on a Prince fanside wink

But that`s the org wink

I just enjoy it that i can listen to a new Prince song on the radio in my hometown and in my country...it`s been a long time....never thought he would have a hit again...

I never said that I don't like the song at all and that I wish that radio wouldn't play it. So please don't make things up. Okay?

I'm crtiticising the system, this brainwashing machine controled by a few. Prince himself did this a lot since his split from WB.

Oh, come on! The USA and a whole lot of other countries have also shitloads of crap music high in the charts.

Prince's new song is high on the radio charts because they hired a marketing company to push promotion. So there was money spent for getting airplay. That explains why this song is becoming a "hit", while so much better prince music from the past 15 years was ignored by the mainstream media. It has nothing to do with quality at all.

This explains the situation perfectly:

Okay we all know how the system works. Is it P's fault. If he plays ball he gets the song on the radio and the public can hear it. If he does not play ball the masses will not get to the hear his music.

What do you think he or any artist can do about the system?

What is wrong with having professional people like purple music and a promotion company that is serving the radio stations the song and they give it a try?

He doesn`t have a major label behind him, so this makes this success even greater! It is a small independent label that is releasing the single, so they surely won`t pay a lot like you suggest! If they even pay anything!

Just relax and enjoy the moment biggrin

Ignore the system and market yourself PROFESSIONALLY on the internet. An official website, youtube-channel and presence on facebook and twitter would be a good start. But hey, "the internet is dead", you know?

Will that get the public to buy the music? In the end even P cannot give all the music away for free and beyond sales how many people are checking out new music on YOUTUBE. A lot of music is old stuff that you cannot find in the stores and artist with major labels putting up the videos and handling the marketing.

falloff This dud of a song? If this post isn't a joke, I seriously worry for you. The only top ten list this bland joke of a single is going to make is among Prince fans when they make a list of the top ten worst singles of Prince's career.

Yes, good to hear a new Prince track getting radio play in the NYC as well. About 1 week after 'RNR Love Affair', was released, when I walked into a supermarket I heard it playing on a radio station here, and that station on any day, usually only plays many of Prince's classics, so it was surprising to hear them playing a new Prince release for a change. Seems 'RNR Love Affair' is making its rounds.

As "big" as it is now, right now....is as "big" as this song is gonna get.

Ok song, kinda catchy.

Like many have said, there have been better songs within the past 10 years.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

When radio doesn't play Prince: radio is OVER! All they play is processed trash, today's music is garbage!

When radio does play Prince: Radio is where it's AT! Radio is all over Prince, radio is important, radio is here to stay!

Just sayin'

To be honest I rarely listen to radio, only if I want to listen to a discussion program or one of those days where I want to hear a station that plays 70s/80s classics. Most of the time it's when I walk into a store, mall or some other public place is basically tbe only time I hear music on the radio. I remember when turning on the radio was a common everyday thing. I think from the time cds, cd players, mp3 players and now other gadgets are in, pretty much turned a lot of peeps away from waiting until radio plays the type of music they want to hear. It's a wonder some folks still listen to radio these days. But I guess radio is still a source that can be used for reaching a stations' established (large) audience.

Agreed. R&R Love Affair is the kind of thing Prince can do in his sleep imo, if he's in the mood to make a 'catchy' song. Pleasant but bland.

For my money, it sounds like a crossbreed of Cream and Fury, but with less guitar, more synths and not as good as either.

The song is just kind of 'there', I just wish P could have a 'radio hit' with something a little more interesting or original (at least original for him).

We are used to hear Prince do songs with voice that really penetrates whatever mood you're in and forces you in either an emotion you love or hate. He usually demands attention, atleast he did back in the day. With this piece he went a complete different direction and made some kind of combination of background music to vibe to, storytelling with no hook. But he did have some cool small details, an ok melody, a pleasant voice(yet a bit anonymous), a clear and defined, yet thick mix, a great looking video, and he never did anything on this song that scares away all of those who's scared of the eccentric, androgynous, weird Prince. Old haters will still hate on him, but new potential haters won't find a need to hate him.
