It's been 28 months, and 6 days..... ...since you took your love awayyyyyyyy......
Wait, I mean since Prince released 20TEN.
Unprecedented amount of time between albums. We know you're ready to rock and roll (love affair)..... but where is the album?
What kind of vibe do you want from Prince's next album? I have a feeling that R&RLA isn't representative of an album in the same way that Te Amo Corazon wasn't representative of the rest of 3121. |

moderatorI would want an album that emits pure emotion and feeling, something that says I'm still. I don't want a synthetic sound, I would just like it organic and natural. Go on for 10mins on a single track if it feels right (Maggot Brain). A sense of cohesiveness would be great, the last album that had that feeling was TRC imo. | |

WOW, i really am surprised at that. I guess with him touring constantly it really doesn't feel like a break. I truly think it's sad that after over a 2 year break he comes back with R&R Affair. I also feel that the next album is just going to be re-recorded vault trax. If he can affford it I think he should have a total break [no tours!] for at least another year and come back in summer 2014. A good manager and his friends should be advising him of that - go away, be inspired, collaborate [W&L!!], get motivated - and come back strong. | |

oh, in terms of vibe I have very low expectations as per my negative thread that is still running. What I want is what we all want!...what we get will be very, very different.

Musically something like TRC, Lotusflow3r (the title disc), Lovesexy, Purple Rain, or Xpectation would be great. What's the common theme there? Organic, live sounding for the most part. Well even longer since 20TEN wasnt even released in america technically, so its really been awhile since he has been on the scene, really just as a "roll out the hits" type of artist touring force. He in a way has become what Billy Joel is, but at least BIlly said way back then that he was quitting pop/rock music and writing and doing new albums, and ironically he is the only artist that has stuck to his promise of "retiring". Prince i dont think will ever be at that stage but you can almost feel it approaching. As far as a new album, i dont know, i dont think RnR affair is gonna be part of an album, the way it looks its just a single package, vinyl etc...probably wont even come out in the USA, maybe in that respect it will be on a new album but i dont see Prince headed into any specific direction, band wise im not really into this line up hes got so i dont even know if they would be on his album. I think if Prince is planning anything we will know in the first few months of the year, around superbowl grammy time, if there is still no buzz of an album, then i dont think 2013 will bring one "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F | |

He probably should not release anything.
I am not the most negative person about his newer releases, but I also fall into the trap of listening a few times and then moving on, hoping the next one will be better. Since 20Ten came out I've re-discovered Musicology, Lotus, and then 20Ten. All were better than I had remembered, and worth another spin.
People don't take the time to digest his work anymore, including him!
That said, release whatever you want, Prince! I'll buy it. I actually am liking the new Andy Allo record. My Legacy

I've been listening to the brilliant new Donald Fagen album Sunken Condos...if Prince came up with something as natural and cohesive as this I would b extremely happy. I highly doubt that will happen . | |

If he's truly still "got it" the new CD will have a vibe similar to SOTT. I also agree with others that RnR Affair may be his Te Amo Corazon from the new CD We can hope.... The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Donald's "Sunken Condos" is absolutely fabulous, I agree that it would be nice if Prince came up with such a strong and cohesive, well produced and meticulously crafted album! RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time... |
