Rock & Roll Guitar Affair

I sort of enjoyed Prince's performance of his new song on tv. It was nothing special, but I liked it that the horns are back and when he did his guitar solo, for a moment it seemed as if he was about to go into a Chuck Berry type duck walk, but alas...
But what I want to say is this: listening to the song made me realize it's telling the same story as Guitar: it is about a girl who wants to be a rock & roll star and Prince, being older and wiser, telling her that fame isn't all it's cracked up 2 be...
Justa thought...

I enjoyed the song more live. The recording is a little plastic and sounds too much like a bunch of other songs. But live it really stands on its own.

Exactly what I thought! I liked the original recording but you described it spot on. Could have been produced better imo. The live version tho W/ the hornz is just great. Wish he would have done that to the original...

Yes better live.

Just like lay it down, which was a vast improvement played live.
small circles, big wheels!
I've got a pretty firm grip on the obvious!

I dont like the horns of the last few years and it getting worse. He sounds more and more big band/easy listening every time I hear him. I don't like it. I wish the horns would go and he would get back to the stripped down sound similiar to the Nude Tour era. Horns are overkill

I still say the song would be much better if it actually has a CHORUS! Sounds unfinshed.

I'm sorry for yout that you don't like them, however, I love them.

I love the horns and in my taste there can't be enough sax.

I dig the song.

It's nice to see Prince, Andy and Ida having fun with their guitars on stage.

And who are the new kids, the drummer girl and cute synth guy?

I would have loved a more coherent story telling lyrics. And for me there can't be enough guitar moments in a song. Nor sax.
