Yup, today is a good day to be a Prince fan. Who knows....maybe Prince will resurrect and remind people why they got to be a Prince fans to begin with until then Prince is ova.

Definately digging this, would have been nice if this was incorporated in the earlier rework we got a while back...

haha, i remember when extraloveable 2011 came out, I said, "this is pretty good but I wish he jammed on that ending groove for longer." This doesn't let me down!

I love Prince's studio jams, where he just throws what he hears onto the grooves. In the studio he organizes stuff really nicely, or something. Maybe in the studio he can take his time to put everything together in a way that can't be done on the fly in a live jam, because his NPG live jams sound a bit generic to me.

I might be fooling myself, but this has strong hints of Old Prince Magic...

Yeah, that would be great! To put it in the context of the rest of the song would only make it better. If prince doesn't do it, probably fans will.

Cool.....interesting that only yesterday I had posted on the thread 'songs Prince shouldn't have redone' that the Extraloveable 2011 version was dire....and now we have this excellent remix....coincidence or is P watching?!?!

I kinda agree this may be the 1988 version but maybe with some newer overdubs - the piano and vocals sound 'newer' than the sound of the time....

Having said that Prince's remixes notoriously don't age...they generally still sound fresh today...

That's an excellent way of putting it, and I agree. In fact I was going to write something like, 'I don't mean to say this is as good as Question of U...', but I get tired of writing things like that because honestly, they're just to cover my ass in case I forget the song a week from now and I feel foolish for praising it too highly. I do think the extraloveable remix has at least some of the good stuff, though.

It's quite obviously the 2011 version with some jamming overtop.

Prince really should've/should release an E.P or something of all the versions of xtraloveable. He said he had 3 versions (i think it was three couldve been more?) that would eventually get released in an interview late last year so can't wait to hear the others. I hope he releases the 25 min. version.

I wonder if Prince will ever embrace the power of the internet again. Would love for him to open a new fanclub that is here to stay. Things just not been the same since the NPG Music club shut down so many years ago. Would be nice if he at least embraced digital music by putting stuff on iTunes. Unfortunately I'm one of those people that if Prince didn't release it in a way I can buy it on Amazon or in a store or on iTunes I just don't end up having it. Sounds like a good mix that some of you got your hands on though!!

it would be nice if Prince had an official FB page to keep us purple junkies in the loop - he could upload concert info, performances, songs and jams as and when he wants to, rather than using the other haphazard sources.

plus he doesn't have to pay anyone (itunes/record companies/concert promoters/tax man etc) - it's a no brainer

plus there is a potential audience of a billion!

nice! this was definitely my favorite section of the new version, and it's great to hear him jamming it out for a few minutes. and no "heeeeey, suga.." or rap! woo hoo!

This jam is not '2 funky'... it's '4 funky!!!' and for those of us waiting on 'The Dawn' (so to speak), this, IMO, is a step in the right direction...

80's Prince is the BEST!!! (And judging by the setlists from the Chicago shows, he thinks so too!) ;~}

Nothing special. Kind of the material I think he can create on a daily basis without actually being inspired.
