Blowin' in the wind, Mr. Tamborine Man, Like a Rolling Stone, All Along The Watchtower, Knockin' on Heaven's Door,Hurricane...These are all time classics, some of the greatest songs of all time. Dylan also has a case for this title...And yest Paul McCartney is funky, ya'll not heard Coming Up?, or seen him dance?

We're here, might as well get into it.

Adorecream

And its taken all this time to acknowledge that fact. Just for Moonbeam Levels, Electric Intercourse, Adore, the whole 1980 -88 and TGE alone makes him a musical quasar.

Prince is God in my eyes, and you can bring all your moonbeam levels 2 me.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

prince can stand among the greats sure .. but you are missing out on some great music if you think prince is the end all be all .. and the fact is most of prince music at this point belongs in the rubbish .. and that is very sad indeed

OK, you obviously didn't read my post, or are seriously confused about what a "generation" is.

And just because I didn't list all those pseudo-geniuses that you did, what on EARTH makes you think I "missed out on some great music"?

You don't really think all I've ever listened to is Prince, do you?!?

i've actually been in quite a dylan phase lately .. he is great .. it blows my mind when people can't understand how good dylan really is .. prince is a pop musician who did some meaningful music for a period of time .. dylan is a meaningful musician who happen to have some pop appeal for some time .. hendrix, the beatles and i am sure prince and certainly myself all agree dylan is right up there with the best of them .. cool

Dude, you've got to understand that art is subjective. You're going to like what you like, I'm going to like what I like, Graycap's going to like what he likes, and Bart Van Hemelen isn't going to like anyone.

None of us is right for everyone else, and none of us is wrong for ourselves.

er

I love Prince & Bob Dylan. Both are hugely creative men who captured the "zeitgeist" of the 1960s and 80s respectively. Both men follow their own path no matter what anybody says. It's just their musical style that differs. But... Dylan influenced Sly and Jimi who influenced Prince!

Prince used to be a genius, long time ago..... 1978 to 1995.

I did not compare R. Smith to Prince -- my reason to mention Robert Smith from The Cure,

was only an answer to TrevorAyer, cuz he wrote "Robert - WHO?"

Robert Smith and Paul McCartney... they sure are very influetial, both: a very big genius.

ps:

I would rank them in this order (IF I had to/ was forced to)..

1. Paul MCcartney (Beatles era only)

2. Prince

3. Robert Smith

Your comment on Cliff and Liberacie...??

Hahaa... lol eek

wait so you write "who?" next to all of prince equals that i listed and then u question "you don't really think all I ever listened to is prince do you?!?" I was just helping you find some good music since u clearly weren't in class that day .. I'll mark u late

and fyi ... my list was first chunk gunge era .. second chunk oldies and third chunk rap .. since u found nothing good in rap or grunge and i wanted to add a few more that equal prince from the era u respect ..

as for my rap list you mocked .. fuck .. u really think prince is a better rapper than big nas or jay z .. or a better producer than dr. dre .. dr dre has produced A LOT of huge records .. he had the golden touch for a solid decade ...

prince fans make no sense

and ps .. musical taste is not subjective .. thats crap .. good music will move most anybody if they give it a chance .. what we have here is a failure to listen beyond your personal musical rut .. believe me .. i understand why people don't give dylan a chance .. of4s dropped us the hendrix quote .. so even prince needed hendrix to pretty up dylan .. and many people needed the byrds or melanie or whatever prettier voiced singer to cover dylan to appreciate his sheer awesomeness .. yes dylan has a unique voice .. i personally love it far more than the crappy pop bands that covered his songs .. and most everyone , once they truly give dylan a chance .. ends up completely loving his stuff ..

so all i am saying is give dylan a chance .. the cure as well .. holy fuck that guy can write some lyricas and jam some psychadelic purple rain sounding shit .. and sure after 10 genius albums in a row .. what came after disintigration had a tendency to dwindle in quality .. kinda like prince .. they both went from 10 great songs a record to 5 or less per record .. of course prince is down to zero per record and so is the cure .. i will add that robert smith even did protege records .. and if u count all the hits dylan wrote for others you could compare that to prince too .. frank black pixies had a solid 10 records as well .. perry had about 5 or 6 .. i could go on but you probably won't give these other musicians a chance anyway .. oh well .. cya

But that shit was pooped out by him 25 years ago or longer.

RNR Affair? Ewww. Even his shows get lacklustre reviews; he's becoming Liberace. With a karaoke band with sequins glued on.
