we need a few more moderate P-fans on the org

Neither bashers or gushers? People that are neither hateful or over the top in their love for the guy?

Not everything he does is always great or rubbish is it?

It's OK to hate his hit-laden main shows and love his more out there aftershows aint it?

I think it's more natural to have a love/hate relationship with P and his work.

Maybe it's just me. shrug

Here! wave prefer to lurk its easier.

The Extremes put me off years ago (although I do miss Msqueen (sp) and on rare occassions Tame) I dont miss any of the angry ones... but they dont post very often nowadays so are easy to skip.

One minute they want peace……

Then do everything to make it go away. rolleyes

I lurked for about 6 months recently. The 'extremes' comments either way get skipped just cause they can't be taken seriously. But yeah, occasionally i see their bile or pre-cum.

I'd love an 'ignore' button.

No, it's not just you.

I've noticed that there doesn't seem to be a middle ground on here. I often find myself by myself when I post comments, too. You can be a fan of someone and not absolutely love everything that s/he does. I don't feel that I 'adore' Prince any less because I didn't care for anything on he's released since "Mr. Goodnight".

Yeah, there's a few old heads that are on the more moderate side that are still around. I usually just lurk and shake my head at the topics in here these days.

I'm a longtime fan. That doesn't mean that I'm no longer a fan because I don't like a particular song, or anything else. shrug There's a balance.

For some, Prince is above criticism. Prince could piss into a bottle, say it's lemonade, and they would still love that! lol wink

As an old-time fan who was 12 when 1999 was released, I've stuck with the man in terms of purchasing all the music and going to concerts whenever possible.

But for me, it's really been about the live shows since at least the end of the 90's. If all I had to go on since then was the recorded music, sad to say but I probably would not be anywhere near as big a fan anymore. It's his live stuff that keeps me coming back.

If that makes me a "moderate" fan, so be it.

They're around. They just get overshadowed by the loudness of those who only gush, or only bash.

I'm one. If I think something Prince has done is garbage, I'll say it and if it's great, I"ll say.

There are a lot of us who are classed as moderate IMO but they never get noticed or recognised as its the bashers & gushers who gets all the attention & focus.
Seems u can't get any sort of response unless ur saying something mean about P.

Lurked for th longest time then joined after Housequake's demise -

I get tired of the fact that most threads seem to end up about 'cock waving', with the usual ego suspects hating or loving ad nauseam.

That's the thing. Even though people know who the attention seeking clowns are and exactly what they will say, people keep giving them attention. We shouldn't need a button to tell us when to ignore a clown.

i think most orgers are pretty moderate. they'll like his music, past and present.

past music more, but still fairly happy with his recent output.

but most of the people who just think stuff is 'cool' or perhaps just 'ok', won't be

posting on threads when they're already overtaken by the usual groups of folks

who just go on there to either say "garbage" or the opposite, "masterpiece" and

sit back salivating, awaiting an appropriate response to start another polemic.

Agree. If seemed that you can't have a "middle-the-road" opinion, because then the extremists will attack from both sides.

Most fans are moderate without an audience, it's just after a while people tend to pick a side or sit on the sidelines because of the atmosphere here.

Remember this is the internet, the org isn't the only place hyperbole flares up for effect, it's endemic.

In terms of the M word, I think we need more maturity. In terms of Transactional Analysis, we need to move away from the drama triangle

We need to move away from the Controlling Parent & Adaptive child 'with no boundaries' ego state i.e. I'm okay you're not okay

And move to the mature Adult role of 'I'm okay, you're okay.'

These overall ego states would work when judging Prince too.
