How about a Prince song on SYTYCD? I like the show "So You Think You Can Dance," and I noticed that many of the songs that are danced to on that show spike in searches and DLs, etc. after the show. It's not like "Idol" because the show uses the original song (edited down for time) and there's often quite lovely choreography to it, sometimes it makes you think the song is even better than it is. Most recently such a case was Sara Bareilles "Gravity." I've looked up a lot of the songs used on there, especially the latin ones.
For years now, I've thought that "The Dance" (from 3121) would be perfect for a sexy tango number. I can imagine a great routine for "Controversy" too.
1. Do you think any Prince songs could/should ever be used for a show like SYTYCD? 2. What songs do you think would be great for a dance number on the show? Particularly interested what any org dancers think.

Thanks for your contribution. I think Kiss has a strong visual already from the video, so it wouldnt make sense to choreograph something new to it. All Day, All Night is a good choice, but unlikely such an unknown song would be used - but of course it seems unlikely ANY of his songs would be used. It's a shame they arent used. Perhaps it has to do with the price too high to use his songs for shows like this? Or maybe because a lot of these dance clips are very popular on YouTube? I was thinking that the earlier version of The Dance would be good for a hip-hop-lite routine from Napoloen & Tab. Also imagine great routines to: The Other Side of the Pillow (a jazz number) Te Amo Corazon (a rhumba? Tho' his Spanish pronunciation is a bit annoying, the song is good to dance to) She Loves Me for Me (a waltz? But the lyrics get a little questionable for family tv in some parts) | |

googling "sytycd Vegas Experience," and I found this interview with the TV host Cat Deely about the dance judge Mary Murphy:
"She's crazy bonkers in every aspect - crazy about dance, crazy about life. If you go out for a night with her, you never know quite what's gonna happen. We ended up dancing on stage with Prince in Vegas once."
So they are aware of him, even fans.
Awolnation and District 78 have had spikes in their DLs after their songs have been on the show recently. I don't think he'll ever let them use a song -- but it's a shame.
