That explains a lot
I wish Prince happiness always, but I do hope he figures out how to channel the passion that has previously accompanied his sad/angry times and moods into his uplifting, joyful music (yes, I believe it can be done and TRC certainly shows elements of this).
As much as I'd like to see less judgement of Prince on sites like this, what I'd like even more is less judgement of other posters. The less we see of threads that have a go at the so-called haters, the less reactionary posts we'll see towards the so-called kool aid drinkers and the less opportunities will be offered for people to go another round of "Things Prince Has Done Wrong And Why He Is Only After Our Money".
That way, Prince can do his thing. Those that judge him can do their thing. Those that just love him can do their thing and, with any luck, everyone can be happy (if they want to be)...
...and maybe one of them in particular will work out how to turn that happiness into kick-ass funky music

No, that doesn't explain a lot without the second line in that post.
We got the first splashes of real geniality when he got tired of being considered 'just another black artist doing his thing'. Dirty Mind through to SOTT was a string of his most memorable albums.
When the crossover was achieved and excelled, he got mad at hearing he had lost his black edge and we got The Black Album.
When he took the fight against WB ( but really farther than he should, though) we got his best music in the 90s.
After losing, son, wife and parents he embraced the JW sect under the evil influence of Sister Larry and then we got TRC, his last-ever mastertpiece and his last musically great tour in 2002.
After orchestrating a 'comeback' in 2004 he wanted to sell himself to the youngsters who were listening to crappy r&b and bland pop. He was successful, got an obscene load of money and retreated from reality leading an ivory tower life from luxury mansion to luxury club and from celebrity bed to celebrity bed without knowing a word about the world today. And that's how we got the bland, uninspired, plastic and boring music we've been getting since.
So, no, I don't want Prince to be soooooooooooooo happy.

^Ok, so quoting you out of context was me being a bit cheeky, but I did understand what you were getting at.
I still hold onto the idea that he will eventually discover how to channel that passion through more positive emotions, as I can't wish unhappiness, anger or bitterness on anyone.
In the meantime, a 20-piece band, including a full horn section, at his tour next week is a damn good start! But then, I do still love most of his current music, particularly his live music, so I'm easier to please than you are

What Chiquetet and Vitriol are saying is interesting.
I agree with Vitriol about the fact that Prince "creates" better when he is unhappy; at least that's what happened so far IMO. But I agree with Chiquetet also when he or she is saying that I can't wish unhappiness to anyone.
I enjoy my "old material" and if I don't like something, I don't listen to it. It's not like there is some contract that stipulates that he has to give me great music every given time. It's unfair also to want him to stop doing music. That's what the man likes to do! "The public is wonderfully tolerant. It forgives everything except genius." O.Wilde
