Indulge me! A pointless but hopefully fun question.

So we all know the success MJ had between 1978 and 1988, whilst we also know the success Prince had during that time. My question is this:
If Prince had used the same pattern of release which songs would have made his 3 albums from 1978-1988? What would you choose to make those three albums?

1999, Purple Rain, and SOTT are good enough to cover the 80'sand match MJ's OTW, THriller, and Bad imo.

I really want to put in Controversy but you said only three albums worth.

Ok, so if you pick three actual complete albums, you select those. But what if you could select any songs from any albums? So to 'replace' Bad you could choose prince songs from 85-88 from any albums. How does that change things? This is what I meant in my original post, but obviously I didn't get that across! biggrin

Not necessarily in this order but, some of the best tracks from 1985-1988 that cover different genres/areas...

1. Sign 'O' The Times

2. Raspberry Beret

3. Sometimes It Snows In April

4. Kiss

5. U Got The Look

6. Alphabet St.

7. I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man

8. Adore

9. Housequake

10. Anna Stesia

11. The Cross

Bad had 11 tracks but eff it i want 12!

12. Ballad Of Dorothy Parker

No, I understood what you meant and I chose those albums and every song on them as my choice as the three albums of songs. Not one thing needs to be changed or replaced on them to fit the three album criteria to match MJ's imo.

I dont Like to Put Michael and Prince In the same sentence and I dont Like "Michael and Prince" Threads, But this is a really awesome one! biggrin

Thriller was a blast because of the 14 min video and the visual effects and choreography. Im His fan since I was 5 years old (2001) so I know that Thriller Is not His Masterpiece. It's just Like he was In the right place at the right time. Of course, That same album has awesome songs like Billie Jean and Beat it, But to me Bad Is better.

Prince Focused More on the lyrics Of his songs, the quality and the content, Not In the videos or the visual effects. We all know that SOTT Is one of his greatests projects in every single way and I have to give him more credit because he plays lots of Instruments and he writes his own songs, While Michael wrote some of them with a Little help of quincy Jones and John Landis.

I'll Pick Controversy with Off the Wall of Mike

Purple Rain With Thriller

And Sign O' the times With Bad.

I always loved what Rolling Stone said in its review of Thriller:

"Thriller may not be Michael Jackson's 1999, but it's a gorgeous, snappy step in the right direction"

Also interesting that at the Grammys in 1988, both SOTT and Bad were up for album of the year.
