featherysunshine one of the replies from the above thread says: "AND on top of that Rosie kept calling him "Taffy" short for TAFKAP"
Somebody may still may not know what TAFKAP came from, TAFKAP was from during the time he called himself The Artist Formerly Known As Prince...TAFKAP

featherysunshine said:[quote] Thanks, but I've already seen the interview that's mentioned there. I still can't work out what rhymes with Taffy that's so offensive! Is it really that terrible? [/quotePrince said: U know what Taffy rhymes with? It rhymes with goodnight. Meaning, if you keep calling me that, I'll leave. That's all there is to it.

Well where I live taffy is not an insult. Taffy is the name of one of the blokes down the Hereford Welsh Club. He's Welsh obviously. It's used quite commonly for the Welsh and i've never known it to be offensive. Same as using jocks to describe the Scottish. I know a bloke called Jock. And besides taffy would never be racist as Wales is a principality. Thought everybody knew that.

Uh, in the U.S., I remember it to be a bigoted term that referred to a gay man with hyper-feminine qualities... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Really? Somebody did not know this? I know intelligent people sometimes take their gift for granted, and just expect everyone to figure out things, but I'm not one of them, and I'm not really that intelligent either, but my mind was easily able to make the connection from "TAFKAP," to "Taffy."
This post is either a joke, spam, or this person really did not put their mind to work.

I don't think he actually ever called himself TAFKAP, but insisted there was no pronunciation. He kind of liked "The Artist", but not so much the Rosie coinage. He could have avoided the whole nonsense if he hadn't chosen to go by in the first place. Besides Sananda Maitreya, do you think he might have inspired anyone else to change their name? I came to his defense in Vibe magazine reader responses by pointing out that no rapper beside Keith Murray actually goes by their birth name (at the time in 1994). Astasheiks said:

This post is either a joke, spam, or this person really did not put their mind to work. Welcome to the org featherysunshine. You'll have to get used that kind of elitist rudeness around here. Don't take it personally though. Good manners and respect for each other is not a big thing online apparently. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

Next topic: Did Prince really get onstage with James Brown and Michael Jackson or is that an urban legend?

legend "Climb in my fur."

Incorrect! This is true

That grips my shit also. King Arthur is a legend. Martin Luther King wasn't. The same goes for calling anything not visual "iconic", as in, "Purple Rain is so iconic."
It's wrong. Stop doing it.
