If you could have any circulating show in Small Club quality..?

We really were spolied back in the day with Small Club. The sound quality was fantastic, and to me, it sounded sooo different and experimental. I almost wore that boot out.

But I have to ask, do we hold it in such high esteem because of the soundboard quality? Are there any other shows that show promise of such greatness, but only exist as audience recordings? If you could have any of those in 'Small Club quality' which would they be and why?

blah blah blah

I'd type down like a couple of dozen club gigs that I wish were in such nice soundboard quality in a heartbeat.

Yeah, New Morning Club 87 would be among them, lol smile

However I always find funny how many recordings have appeared in such pristine quality and never reached the mythical status of "Small Club". The Copenhagen aftershow from 2002 springs to mind.

'Prince & The Band' going tits up kind of spoils it. But yeah it's awesome.

There's an aftershow from Rotterdam 2002 (the name of the boot escapes me) that's awesome too. Prince is just blazing it on guitar.

^^ Aye, the ONA aftershows were killer. Paris was another great show. Very guitar heavy. Lovely.

The 1986 New Morning seems to be wonderful but it's hard to say with this crappy sound, so I'd give it a try.

But I've had a long, intense love affair with the Rex 1993 so I guess that'd be the one cool

Yeah, check out a discussion I started a few weeks ago on the same topic. I think somebody linked to it above. I'm on my annoying ass phone, or I'd track down the link for you.

I'd like First Ave 86. First Ave 83. Melkweg 2Night. And a shitload of others.

er

EVERYBODY had that Small Club cd, even people who weren't big fans at all . I let some of them listen to a recording of the Melkweg gigs from last year and they liked it just as much. So that's the one for me
That night was true magic.

I would love to see the last Revolution show. In honesty I have never seen any of the Parade era shows boxed

Is the Hippodrome London aftershow on any boots now? This is only curiosity. I'm not asking for where to find it. Holy fuck.

Off the top of my head... "Exploding All Over Europe" on the Thunderball label has it. I Can't remember if it's complete or not.

It's probably on other releases too.
