Doesn't look like anything new on here. They're still taking what's already available for free and selling it. Doesn't matter, I'll take their copy for free too...
Looking forward to it. Thanks for the heads up!!

I guess the artwork is an improvement over Perfect Unreleased Prince, but that isn't saying much. The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

ANYTHING is an improvement over that shit!

Nothing new. | |

Yep, you know it. And these shits are high, too. $90 a set (first two).

One must have to have lost half of his brainal mass in an accident to pay that price for a collection of tracks that have been available for free, most of which come from mp3 and with a non-existent or very poor tweaking just because it's on pressed discs.
Sabotage has become something laughable, Eye was a laughable effort from the very start.
I'm wondering why Prince isn't chasing the actual bootleg manufacturers instead of the fans who just inform about their existence.
Anyway, the very best classic releases have come from fan labels for the last 6 or 7 years.

Be specific. What exactly is different about this thread than any other bootleg thread that has been posted since the whole PFU fiasco? Are there new rules here that just started this weekend or something? TDG gets shut down so now we're afraid to TALK ABOUT bootlegs on the Org? If so, we need this clearly stated by the mods. And, I might also need another fansite.

With a c&d so fresh dont you think it wise to chill about bootlegs discussion. Or do you want the org to get trouble. Then where you gon go? Princefams? lol

I don't approve of people making a profit from unauthorized recordings. I will not buy these. The first looks like a rehash of other things that have leaked recently for free as djThunderfunk said. The second is from a very recent concert, and I have no interest in downloading or listening to recent concerts. There is too much classic stuff from Prince and other artists that I have not yet heard for me to download and listen to every new concert that Prince puts on.
Having said that, the second bootleg above is an example of the sort of thing that I think Prince himself should be selling at his concerts. If the fans in Chicago had an opportunity to buy an official, limited edition CD or DVD of one of the W2A shows, it would give them a nice souvenir, better quality than what the bootleggers are offering, and it would encourage others to go to future shows. Prince would also make some money off of it directly and probably put Eye Records out of business, because who would want to pay for a bootleg if you could get an official version? Of course, he doesn't have to do that if he doesn't want to. It just seems like a good business idea to me.

No I don't want the org to get into trouble. But, nothing on this thread should bring any trouble. Do I need to provide examples of threads just like this one that have run their course without any problems? If the rules have changed and people need to follow them then that needs to be clearly stated. Things are getting ridiculous when everyone suddenly thinks that bootleg information is a crime. As long as there is no info on where or how to get them and as long as no one is using the org to disseminate them we are not breaking the existing rules or any laws. This kind of thread happens everytime a new boot is announced. You know this.

I know but TDG didnt have links etc on ow to retrieve them and look what happened. I kow we have talked about legs but Im just saying RIGHT NOW with a c&d so fresh that coincides with a new toru announcement..something is fishy so why push it?
Hey, maybe this was due to the purple team wanting only porg to report on tours etc etc? He supposedly likes the org "Climb in my fur."
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
It may be that, for the sake of the org's survival, discussion of bootlegs should be banned at least temporarily here. But that decision should be made and publicly announced by Ben and the mods, so that those interested in the subject will know to take their discussion elsewhere. As of now this type of post does not violate org policy and is extremely common as djThunderfunk says. The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
THATS WHAT IVE BEEN SAYING. Yall need a statement from mods or Ben? LOL the org would be deleted for 2 weeks before Ben even realized his pet project was down. "Climb in my fur."
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
If discussion of bootlegs is verboten here, won't the org see a significant drop in visitors? What reason would people have to come to the Prince: Music & More forum if not to hear about bootlegs? To discuss why we don't have any remasters or new music? I mean, how long can we have a discussion about nothing? We're not the Seinfeld writers after all.
At least we should get some guidance from the mods who do come on the site. The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Disc Three (89:15) Prince and the Revolution Parade demos 42:58 (1985): 1 Wendy's Parade 2:11 2 New Position 2:20 3 I Wonder U 1:36 4 Under The Cherry Moon 2:57 5 Others Here With Us 2:43 6 Life Can Be So Nice 3:14 7 Sometimes It Snows In April 6:52 8 All My Dreams 7:20 9 Girls & Boys 5:36 10 ♥ Or $ 4:10
Are this really all demos or are the released versions like on the ones on the Parade album?

This would be acceptable. It would suck, but, it would be acceptable. What is not acceptable is for some people that are not mods to try to squash a discussion that breaks no rules or laws.

I ain't NOT talkin' about shit!! You can sit there and shake in your boots (no pun intended) like a scaredy cat if you want to, but there are a few of us who won't and will discuss what the fuck we want to. As Thunderfunk said, this is shit we do all the time.
So, since you're against this type of talk right about now, I'm assuming you won't be back in this thread. Too bad, (not) so bad.

I'm not one for getting folks to stop discussing anything but one bootleg discussion thread a week, let's say, versus abut five since tdg got shut down is a bit suspect. Carry on.

I hadn't noticed that!
So, one of the big pluses of the 4DF FREE release -apart from the overall quality- was having the BEST quality for the INTACT segue between OF4S and All My Dreams (before this, it was only available on SaTim's '1986' in inferior quality) and the GENIUSES at Eye records decide to remove it...
They not only steal other people's efforts and charge idiots for it: they have to MAR it first!!

This is the only active thread I see at the top of the forum about new bootleg releases (although there are others further down in the list). The other threads relating to TDG have the general theme of "Prince sucks." Those type of threads pop up regularly whenever Prince does something fans don't like. Look back at what happened when he made his burqa comments, for example. People nursing an old grievance (including myself) come out of the woodwork. But on the TDG issue I feel strongly that it was a bad move on Prince's part. If this is not the place to have that discussion, the mods should make that clear.
