Let It Go

I've been listening to this track quite a bit lately and I just wanted to know what my fellow orgers think of this track. I think it's got a great hook!

bigbrother,

It is an underappreciated/overlooked TREASURE from the Come/Gold era.

I find it quite perfectly captures the sombre mood and quiet defiance in Prince's musical/psychological repertoire at the time.

It's best to listen to alone, as is the case with Solo (but for entirely different reasons).

And let's not get started on the brilliance of Dark.

A great 1,2,3 end of an album.

love,

Spirit

Love it. Funny, I bought COME when it came out and did not get into it. This last year I picked it up again and love it. What was wrong with me before? I seem to sort of grow into the albums that I do not like at first. I have the single LP version too.

Oh! you mean "Letitgo".. I seriously had no idea what song you were talking about until I read SpiritOtter's post.

This song is ok, but I don't love it.. probably the weakest track on Come for me (besides "Orgasm").

didn't prince mention this song in guitar magazine around the time of the whole gold/come

showdown with warners? iirc he said something about it being the coolest song he wrote in

the last few months or something.

anyway, always liked it, never really understood why people put it down so much/often on

this site. it's got cool lyrics, nice vocal layering and a cool slightly dark mood to it. and that

maxi single is great too with all those different versions.

I agree with SpiritOtter's post too. I love this song for the reasons already mentioned and would add that the instruments are also layered nicely. I like what the bass is doing throughout, and does anyone else hear a tambourine in the mix??? lol The song definitely works for me.

Curious to find out more about that Guitar magazine article... hmmm

Man, that era was fantastic - I was 15 in 1994.

Prince had The Beautiful Experience short film that was broadcast here on MuchMusic - Canadian music television channel.

Anyhow, the Come record was incredible than and now.

LetItGo used to get played on a Buffalo radio program WBLK 93.7. It was the follow up single to The Most Beautiful Girl In The World and as a result, it was getting played. However, not much came of the single especially without a video.

Regardless though, that's a bad tune and Sherm Stick remix was absolutely crazy - that Ballad of Dorothy Parker Sample along with that electric guitar is just freaky.

Great album for me, probably the last great one (I found TGE to be too inconsistent) and a great song. I'd have liked the remixes to have been released in the UK too, but it wasn't too much of an inconvenience to get the import.

Fan of the song...my Org name kinda gives that away.

The song is just cool...rides a nice groove all the way through and the lyrics show a really introspective Prince trying to figure out why he keeps driving people away.

Minor classic in my mind.

This is the kind of Prince song that has worked magic for me rabbit A while back I was struggling with some circumstance that was totally out of my control. I kept trying to 'let it go' but it didn't want to go anywhere.

Then one day this groovy little tune started to play. Immediately it felt like relief in motion, taking all the pain away touched

The song lifted me to a free place in a fun, light way nana I don't know how Prince imagines these arrangements, but all of a sudden.... Poof!! tinkerbell it was gone!! I Released It wave

When I first got into Prince (like REALLY got into him) a year and a half ago, I bought 3 albums on Amazon. Come (Digital) and Emancpiation and NPS on CD... While Emancipation and NPS got lost in the mail I spent the next 2-3 weeks listening to Come non stop, and LetItGo would always get played upwards 4-5 times a day. It might be my favorite Prince song. And the Sherm Stick remix is just insane, I can't get enough of it.
