To me that award show was a battle between Bowie and Prince, because both performed on it (though Bowie's was broadcast in from his actual tour). Prince won. I was sitting there with a devoted Bowie fanatic in a dorm tv room, and even she admitted Prince won.

yep I've seen her in the White(of course) Black(she was also on 'Jay Leno' in Black, Red, Fuscia -Purple, & I think a Peach colored one

Prince was so bad ass this day from the Video Awards to the smoking hot surprise gig later that night..

I remember watching this live and I had my vcr set to record it...

It was awesome watching them march in with the drums...

Great performance although I thought the sound was a bit off for Play in the Sunshine...and it seemed like the crowd was sorta stunned..as they were quiet during the performance...he really was 'out there' back in the day...nobody was on his level....cool jeans and jean jacket...

I remember watching this in a room with a bunch of my "heavy metal" friends when this aired. And I yelled at them; "SEE...He can STILL throwdown when he wants too!!!" I think Whitesnake and G-N-R played on the show too so he probably amped it up a notch.

I think he jumped on the "retro-psychedic peace sign" vibe a couple of years before everyone else (including Lenny) made it popular. I dug that outfit he had on that night and his doo' looked cool. A total breakaway from the "Christopher Tracy" style.
