A Thankyou from NZ and Australia and a word on positivity

Hi all, I am new to the org (not so good with technology) but have been an avid Prince fan since the age of 7 when Purple Rain came out. Prince has made my world beautiful and vivid - he has been with me most of my life!

I just wanted to share my thanks to Prince and the NPG for an awesome concert in Melbourne on the 30th May - I finally got to see him live! The whole band gave there all and showed us how it is REALLY done, myself and my partner spent $2000 getting to Melbourne from NZ and it was worth every cent - such a positive uplifting beautiful night. I had been pretty uncertain about our seats as we were at what seems to be referred to on here as the "back of the circle" and I was finding some pretty negative comments on the org about this placing, but I must say we had WICKED seats (not that we were anywhere near our seats as we were up on the floor as soon as the NPG got on the stage and started the synths to DMSR) and that we could pretty much go anywhere on the floor we wanted. We were standing chatting to the VIP section, thats how close we where to them, except they had nowhere to dance because the tables seemed to be in the way. Also, I got within 2 metres of Prince and he saw me shakin' my bootie - I was in the front row the whole time! When he wasn't around our side I could see him from the waist up (and I'm a shortie) clearly enough to check out his eyemakeup. I wouldn't have traded those seats for anything, we could have been higher up on the sides but couldn't have moved at all and it wouldn't have felt anywhere near as intimate. Thankyou.

Now for a word on positivity - I have been reluctant to post on here, as although there are certainly some beautiful people here, there is a thread of negativity that seems to rear it's head every now and then - this seems to contradict who and what we are all here for. Surely to be a Prince fan is to have an openminded and positive outlook on life, without judgement and ridicule? Does it really matter if someone has had an epiphany about a Prince song that might seem obvious to others? Does it matter that some of us are in our thirties, others in their fifties, and others still teens?

We are all here to celebrate a beautiful, talented loving human being and the least we can do while we are on this site dedicated to him is treat each other with respect and love.

It is after all what he would want.

Also, Prince, New Zealand is a beautiful place and you have LOTS of fans here! We would love to see you sometime. x

Nice speech, I also made the leap across the ditch, although I only spent $1100 thanks to cheap flights and a hotel special on May 15th.

Prince was actually considering visiting the Vector venue in Auckland, but backed out due to the size of the stage and the lack of demand (Prince has very few kiwi fans (I know 4 of the main ones - 3 are on the org, do the math)). Plus giving our country no doubt there would have been high fees Prince may have turned down and he probably would not have got a royal welcome, and the shows may have not sold out, especially given the ticket price, - $99 Australian tickets were limited to a few back rows, most tix were $179, a Kiwi dollar is 77 cents of Australia, so tickets at least before GST = $139 and $249 our money, considering the average income here is 55% of Australia's and the average Prince fan is likely to have little disposable income (Young, students and Maori/Polynesians), few tickets would have sold without the help of credit cards and Geneva finance.

The fact he spurned us this time, means we will have to wait at least 10 more years, by whence he will be over 60.

Plus a lot of African American performers have complained about racial profiling by New Zealand customs agents (Who often detain them on the suspicion of drug use), Boney M, Snoop Dogg, George Benson and the Mista Bobdobalina guy in the early 90s.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name
