Hey kid During the recording of the first ALBUM by the Time Jesse wasn't even in the band.the band was only Prince and Morris, with some synth solos by dr Fink and Lisa's back vocals. And Yes Prince played always that well.listen to Dirty mind era boots, tons of great guitar solos by Prince.that's much better thing instead of showing how little you know about Prince's history and his ability on instruments or better try to learn guitar,in 5 years or so maybe you can learn to play Why You Wanna Treat me So Bad guitar solo until then in the voice of Lil' Richard :Shut Up [Edited 8/1/12 22:15pm]

bambi and i!m yours guitar parts just have distortion and repeated notes......the guy who playin on get it up is whaling....tone is different than prince tone....its jesse folks....cant fake style

Don't talk about style and mention Jesse Johnson. Repeated notes? How about repeated solos from Jesse. That man does nothing but play pentatonic and blues scale up and down. We know for a fact Jesse is playing solos on Pandemonium. Listen to the two rock tunes on that album. You could switch solos and not even tell the difference. Prince has style and his ideas on guitar are usually very interesting. Jesse has nothing going for him except clean execution. His solos are boring as hell to a real musician and guitarist. Yes, I am.

i meant no disrespect to anyone but i know prince wasnt that good back then! you may be a real musician but did u graduate from berklee? NO! i trust their opinion because they ate drinked and slept guitar at berklee!

Hey KidMelody, how long have you really been a Prince fan? I've been a fan since 1979 as are alot of folks here and we've seen Prince in concert from the early days and trust me Prince WAS and IS that good on guitar. No need to even drink the Purple Kool Aid.

Kid Melody go and watch Dirty Mind era concerts Paris or New York with your Berklee friends to see how great ripping solos Prince played ,extended Why You Wanna Treat Me.if 100% of Prince.org members tell you it's Prince you should believe and you should listen to Prince's guitar playing to memorize his style so you wouldn't talk bullshit. And just because some of your friend attends Berklee don't mean a shit in this case.

Kid, as strongly as you believe your friends, you're just as strong to not believe the purple people here who are telling you the absolute truth. I would like to be there to see your face when the truth is revealed.
This is nonsense and I no longer support your argument. I'm out! cool

If you want (or need) to know the truth, you should ask Jamie Starr or Alexander Nevermind or Christopher lol This raises another point. I love the fact that Prince wrote and played on countless side projects and never wanted to take credit, even early in his career and before Purple Rain made him a mega star! What was the point behind that? You would think he would take full credit to help establish him as major contender in the music business, but he opted out. Why? Oh yeah, do your homework. Jesse wasn't in the Time until after the album was completed.

Thank u Aunt Ester lol and you got the perfect quote in your signature for kidmelody ...."Watch It Sucka" biggrin biggrin

Eh? This is about the most ridiculous post ever!

YOU don't know that Prince wasn't "that good back then", you are relying on YOUR FRIENDS for that information. Furthermore, being at a certain college does not mean that they are right. I too know someone who graduated from Berklee and she's an asshole!

But, hey, continue with your flights of fancy and blinkered listening to people you hold in high esteem simply because they attend a certain institution - that's going to get you really far in life.

my berklee friends say it was common practice for stars to have someone playing backstage behind the curtains so just because he got a guitar on doesnt mean he was actually playing it back then.they also told me that prince was taking vocal and guitar lessons then from seth riggs and john scoffield.they know these people from berklee studies and they say its true prince was still learning to get good back then! again no disrespect to your opinions and beliefs but I have facts backing me up from people with degrees in music!

this is the most stupid shit i have ever read. Let me tell you something in a live setting it's hard to fake on the instrument.especially if you play and watch someone else play.why would Prince have someone play behind the curtain when he is a great guitar player.when Prince was a kid he was known as a prodigy guitar player .he was one of the rare guitar players from Mpls who could play Chicago Sunday in the Park note by note. guitar solo. Anyway i think you are having jokes with us.if you're serious then i wanna bet with you and your Berklee friend.i bet in 5000 dolars that it's Prince playing guitar solo on Get It Up.do you accept the bet?

Naive
Generally speaking, to be naive means you do not think enough. People who are "naive" tend to believe in whatever they are told, without questioning whether it is right or wrong. As for age, it can be anywhere from 1-100. Anyone who has not lived through and seen enough of this world is generally referred to as naive.

Like other posters have said this topic has already been discussed quite a bit.

Jesse said in a recent radio interview that he was already slated to be in Morris' new band which was then being called 'The Nerve'. Prince (and Morris acting as Prince's assistant) went on the Dirty Mind tour. When they came back they put together the rest of the band. So Jesse was in already. He just didn't play on the albums.

Prince has also been quoted as tossing Jesse a cassette of the album and saying you play a great solo on here. I think the 'Get It Up' and '777-9311' solos were both a kind of 'in yo face' to Jesse, showing that Prince could play mean, freak-out jimi hendrix style guitar just as good as Jesse could.

Did the administrators of that site go to Berklee? Because if they didn't, this can't possibly be right. hmph!
