Prince playing Get It Up Guitar Solo? Since Prince recorded the old/ole Time songs, anybody ever seen him playing the guitar solo in Get It Up, live or video??? |

Are you kidding!? You need to go back and listen to I'm Yours and Bambi! Prince played everything on The Time albums. He even had the nerve to tell Jesse that he (meaning Jesse mockingly) plays a mean guitar. Prince was and always has been nasty on the guitar. __________________________________________________

Hey Kid Melody if "distortion and repeated notes " is the only thing you hear when you listen to Bambi then i feel sorry for you because you are missing a lot.everybody who plays guitar can easily recognise Prince's soloing because every guitar player have something that distincts him.Of course it's Prince on Get It Up .it's Prince on 777-9311,it's even Prince on My Drawers.the only songs where Prince don't play lead guitar is Jungle Love,If the Kid Can't Make You Come,Blondie,Jerk Out and Skillet.so don't try to act smart because with the things you say you are showcasing otherwise. | |

Prince didn't just take credit. Every fucking interview every member of the Time ever did when they weren't under Prince's umberella they state that he played all the instruments.

Hey kid During the recording of the first ALBUM by the Time Jesse wasn't even in the band.the band was only Prince and Morris,with some synth solos by dr Fink and Lisa's back vocals.And Yes Prince played always that well.listen to Dirty mind era boots,tons of great guitar solos by Prince.that's much better thing instead of showing how little you know about Prince's history and his ability on instruments or better try to learn guitar,in 5 years or so maybe you can learn to play Why You Wanna Treat me So Bad guitar solo until then in the voice of Lil' Richard :Shut Up [Edited 8/1/12 22:15pm] | |

yall dont know nothing! jesse wasnt in the band yet because playing that solo on get it up was his audition!i have many friends who graduates of guitar from berklee school of music and they all say prince didnt get really good till around 1988!they guitar majors for christ sake! it was jesse trust me!! | |

Jesse was never on audition for the Time.He become a member because of his looks and because Morris said he could play. Jesse's playing style is much different then Prince.you should listen to live recordings of Jesse playin Get It Up.while he uses a bits of Prince's guitar solo from the song he plays totally different.But i see everything i say and others orgers don't mean anything to you.your only intention is to provoke and be disrespectful and rude.you asked the question ,many orgers were kind to answer but it's clear that you don't appriciate it.this is my last post on anything you post from now on. | |

Don't talk about style and mention Jesse Johnson. Repeated notes? How about repeated solos from Jesse. That man does nothing but play pentatonic and blues scale up and down. We know for a fact Jesse is playing solos on Pandemonium. Listen to the two rock tunes on that album. You could switch solos and not even tell the difference. Prince has style and his ideas on guitar are usually very interesting. Jesse has nothing going for him except clean execution. His solos are boring as hell to a real musician and guitarist. Yes, I am.

That Kid2012 is a walking contradiction.he says that Prince wasn't good on guitar until '88 yet he praises Prince's guitar solo from 1981 and he tries to convince us that it isn't Prince on Get It Up while it's so clear that Prince plays it.you hear his phrasing his sound.His playing is so distinctive.But i think Kid knows it's Prince on guitar but he deliberately wants to disrespect every orger kind enough to answer his question. If you want (or need) to know the truth, you should ask Jamie Starr or Alexander Nevermind or Christopher  This raises another point. I love the fact that Prince wrote and played on countless side projects and never wanted to take credit, even early in his career and before Purple Rain made him a mega star! What was the point behind that? You would think he would take full credit to help establish him as major contender in the music business, but he opted out. Why? Oh yeah, do your homework. Jesse wasn't in the Time until after the album was completed. | |
