Emancipation 'trailer'
Hello, Hoping to get some info that I can't find on the net. If it's on here please don't have a cow and get all bent out of shape. I am in the process of going through my 30+ year Prince collection and get it documented. I ran across something I forgot I had and can't seem to remember what it actually is. They are a couple of Emancipation movie reels, trailers I believe promoting Emancipation. On is longer then the other timewise. Does anyone know what these contain or where I can find info on them?

I've seen a shortened TV version of the Movie trailer aswell. Awesome clip with him doing the perfomance of Emancipation he did at the Brits but on an industrial style set.
I'm guessing the one you mean is where he is wearing the white snow jacket and says "whaz up.. How are you enjoying your Emancipation?... I know I am"
I know it was screaned in a couple of US Theatres and that there is a camcorder recording of the trailer floating round the usuall places.
There was a shorter version aired on US TV I belive without the dance routines IIRC. It was broadcast ahead of the Emancipation Day Concert screening.
Correct me if I'm wrong | |

^^ yeah I saw that one in a theater here in NYC. It was kind of crazy sitting there watching the previews and all of a sudden, there's Prince on the screen! A few people even applauded at the end of the trailer. I liked the Emancipation album well enough, but I remember thinking how awesome it would have been if it was actually a really killer Prince album that had a movie theater trailer behind it.

Are these the 35mm or 16mm reels, Either way Please for the love of god get to a post facility get these cleaned and telicinied through a wet gate. The only time i've seen the longer one is from a crappy camcorder shot in a cinema (I am however gratefull for that camcorder footage)
If you are in the UK I can see about getting it done at my work | |

Sorry telicine is transfering them digitaly (scanning them), From 16mm or 35mm you could make a HD video of those trailers. It shouldn't cost too much as they are only short
If the post facilities (place that does film developing or scanning) don't do wet gate they could do defused light source... It's just something to hide any scratches there might be on the film. Also you want any dust or bits and bobs cleaned off before you scan them

Wait woah, are we talking about an Emancipation movie or commercials for the album!? Because if an Emancipation movie exists... I think I'll have to spend the rest of my life looking for it! Purple is the color of my heart,
