turn anyone on lately?

what i mean is: have you ever turned anyone onto prince? i always have this big debate with some kids at work who trash prince and then i trash their divine radiohead and it just goes on and on. then i play a blazing Prince guitar solo and they kind of shut up cuz all their favourite acts are rock bands. sometimes it's fun just to argue about silly shit like that.

I sorta converted one of my classes, I was playing "parade" why they were working, and they liked it, they were like "who's that"?, I asked if they liked it and they all said yes. Imagine the looks on their faces when I told them it was prince.

My cousin sat through the "Dirty Mind" album and loved it. He asked me why I'd never played it for him before. I was amazed. He said it was the most accessible album.

I've turned 3 people out to Prince this year alone smile

I usually give them albums to listen to that aren't "typical" Prince or play his music repeatedly until they have no choice but to like it wink

Yes, a few people. smile

All it usually takes is some patience and perseverance, and to get people to sit still and actually LISTEN to the music, and get past any preconceived opinions or notions they've already formed about Prince.

I'll take into consideration what type of music the person tends to favor, and then I'll give them some lesser known Prince material to listen to that is similiar to that type, and with other types thrown in as well to illustrate how varied Prince's music can be.

I've found it to be fairly easy to 'convert' people once they just listen to his music.

One of my best friends would always say to me,How can you like him? and I would say, but you have never seen him in concert. So I asked her to watch him on Jay Leno and I thought she would say the same thing, because she is a country music fan.
She called me the next day and said oh I can't believe it. I loved him. He was so cute, and I said that's what i've been trying to tell you.

I would say 9 out of 10 people who either don't like him or don't know much about him...end up respecting him after I
play some choice cuts for them.

It's best to not date anyone into him
unless they share the same ideaology.

Otherwise there's ridiculous competition.

my brother thinks that Radiohead and The Beatles are the only worthwhile music ever created... well, that's not entirely true, but it seems like it... he does listen to other stuff.

I'm thinking about putting together an Intro to Prince CD for him, but i'm having trouble with it... not sure what to include. Sometimes I just want to shout OPEN YOUR EYES... AND YOUR EARS... CAN'T YOU SEE THIS IS AMAZING!!

i dunno..
