Speaking of Artwork, there doesn't seem to be any with this release... There were with the others... I wonder why?

Haven't had a Prince song on repeat for a while now, love this song! Rhythm floods my heart♥The melody it feeds my soul

There is an artwork, though it's kinda weird
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the person(s) behind this release is the same than the one(s) behind the previous ones. They probably know each other, but they're not the same people exactly. For one thing the quality ain't the same, nor is the tracklist as cohesive, and it's not been released by one of our usual "free boots" label. Also, I haven't listened to it yet entirely but it seems that some tracks are the same than on Box Of Chocolate and Parade Demos, from different (lower quality?) source tapes?
Don't take me wrong, this whole thing is bloody cool and I ain't gonna complain about it: whoever leaks all these tapes are my heroes! But it sounds as if either some of the tapes aren't all as low gen as in previous releases, or that the people behind the release weren't able to "remaster" them as efficiently as other "bootleggers" did for previous collections (which, admittedly, requires some technical skills that aren't so easy to acquire: I for one couldn't do it).
Also, considering that this collection covers Prince's whole bootlegged career from 1977 to 1995, I just realized that it's very likely that whoever has these tapes must have TONS of others, and that there may be waaaaaaay more than one more release ahead . man, 'moonbeam levels' is about the most overrated outtake i've ever heard.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
There seems to be differing opinions on the sound quality. Is the single released track better quality to the one on the perfect records release?

Is there a lossless version of this in circulation? (Mods, please note that I am not asking where to find such a thing - only asking if it exists. The ones I have are in mp3 format.) We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

So far I've only come across mp3 myself. Hopefully we'll find it in lossless soon. Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

Wow - amazing! | |

I take it the other tracks you don't list are already out there in equal or better quality on other circulating bootlegs? The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Yeah, I find Go to be mediocre at best. The quality isn't especially impressive either.
That said, I'm digging the hell out of this version of The Line. I've always loved the other versions out there, don't remember hearing this one before. It's slammin! Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

I would say this set has by far the bestsounding version of Baby Your a trip on it, almost perfect, no hiss at all.
Also Moonbeam levels sounds a little bit better compared to the version from The work. Old friends and purple music are lower quality, but old friends has a count in not on the this version I already have. [Edited 7/26/12 10:38am]

No doubt. That has got to be the dumbest opening line from any song. Of course he didn't know where to begin. He's a pop musician with a little more depth than most, not a writer. That's like me saying, "Yesterday I tried to make a hydrogen bomb, but I didn't know where to begin." No shit.
I like the chorus, though.

Help me out here: Which track did he end up re-using the chant from The Line on? I can't place it right now.

No, sorry -- I should have been more specific. Not Bonnie's part, but the "Yip yip yo!" heard at the beginning of this version.

I'm pleased with The Ball as well. Its still ain't up to par quality-wise, but it sure as hell beats the circulating version IMO, at least I could hear some of the things in the mix right now.
