Glitch on DMSR

Hi y'all smile

Always wanted to ask but always forgot... By the end of DMSR there's a kinda glitch, a sort of krrr krrr krrr that appears for a moment (dunno when exactloy in the song but I can check if needed, but honestly it's so obvious that I'm sure u've all heard it) and this is not a defect of my CD because it was already there on my cassette back in the days.

It sounds like a sound problem, it doesn't sound at all like done on purpose and it doesn't seem to serve any purpose musically speaking anyway. On the other hand it's so obvious, not hidden in the mix at all, not something u need earphones to hear, that I just don't get how it could happen accidentally without being detected and fixed.

I'm quite sure this has been discussed before. Anything we know about this?

Thanks.

I'm listening to it right now and Im not sure what you are talking about.

At 4.37 there is a sound that comes into the mix when he says "dance"

sounds like a voice actually.

At 6.30 I can hear a noise but I think it might be an electronic sound effect.

Im sorry but I can't really hear anything out of the ordinary.

But thanks for reminding me how amazing this song is through head phones smile

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!

Are you sure it's on DMSR? I remember hearing a glitch somewhere on the album but can't remember which song. I'm listening now to see if I can find it.

Think I've found it, is it Something In The Water (Does Not Compute) at 2:57?

I always thought that sound at 2:57 in Something in the Water was some violent slam of the microphone. If it is a glitch it was definitely kismet because it fits the mood perfectly.

It starts to be really obvious around 6:40 when P says "Jaime Starr's a thief" and it's there until the end, it's only on the right speaker and it's a kind of continuous "krrrrkrrrrkrrrr", like a saturation or something, definitely doesn't sound like a voluntary electronic sound (this was long before Aphex Twin lol )

Are you listening to a legit, purchased copy of the song, or did you steal a copy?

'Cause as you posted elsewhere, stolen copies have all sorts of problems and inconsistencies.

Well, if you'd read my OP you'd have the answer to your question wink

I bought 1999 not only twice as mentioned, but THRICE falloff (once on CD in the late 90's and twice on cassette in 1990, since the UK cassette was the easiest way to get How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore back then - that was before The Hits/The B-Sides was released). There's something like 100 albums that I bought first on cassette, then again on CD when cassettes became obsoletes.

My current MP3 is ripped from my legally purchased CD. The glitch I mention was on all versions. It's on yours, too, just take a listen wink

Yep. I hear it. It's hard to guess what it is. It sounds like it could even be something "mechanically vibrating" (but what?).

Like the multitrack recorder or some electrostatic disturbance.

Hard to tell unless you’re an expert…
