I always thought that 1999 was about the end of the millenium -

lets party like it is 1999 - (end of an era) -

people thought that things were going to change when 2000 came - and the world could end -

so party up like it is your last day on earth?

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

That's the one.

Prince's apocalyptic party theme in full swing. "Uhh, we got 14 years" -- Dance Electric.

Surprised Prince didn't get in on the 2012 thing actually, it's just like him to repeat himself in the lamest way possible.

No of course I understand the concept behind 1999, it's just it woulda been quite a joke that the artist that released an album named 1999 in 1982 would release an album named 1982 in 1999, just for the sake of being sassy. Besides, since Prince was in the trip of re-using his classic Linn sound on Rave for the first time in a decade, and having Prince producing prince... Well, you know wink

If it was anything like the 1999 remix, the answer is NO

In 1999 wasn't that the period he was talking with W&L about Roadhouse Garden?

Now that truly would have been a 1982ish album and would have put him back on the musical map
